These mistakes that take YEARS to be corrected. In a recent workshop I did for parents, we talked about HOW to correct our children in the home language without frustrating them and/or making them feel like they would rather NOT speak in the home language. 💡 The main thing to keep in mind is that we need to show our children that WHAT they say is more important than HOW they say it. We can correct them in different ways, but we need to KEEP THE CONVERSATION GOING. (For more details, you can check out this video we published on Activities for Multilingual Families- YouTube https://lnkd.in/eNe6Q8Kz ) 💡 Another important thing to keep in mind is that some mistakes are going to be repeated for YEARS. It is only in the passed month that my 8 y.o started saying consistently "tu TE rappelles" instead of "tu rappelles". In French, "Do you remember...?" is literally said "Do you remind YOURSELF...?" But my son would skip the "te" (=yourself) He is also now becoming more analytical and asks questions about why some things are said in a certain way and not another, and he understands and remembers the grammatical reasons I give him. (He is becoming more curious about his languages 😄) REMEMBER: 💡 We are on a JOURNEY. We need to make sure it is an ENJOYABLE one (for our children AND for us). 💡 It takes time for children to correct some mistakes. But if they are not frustrated or put off by the corrections they get, they will KEEP speaking our language and will improve. ❓️What is one mistake that your child made countless times? ❓️Is there a particular mistake that your child recently started not to make anymore? #multilingualkid #mistakes

Let's break it down: 财 means wealth or finance, and 务 means affairs. So when you combine the two, it makes more sense to think of 财务 in terms of someone dealing with financial affairs, like in an accounting or financial department. Here’s an example sentence using 财务: 我在财务部门工作。 (Wǒ zài cáiwù bùmén gōngzuò.) I work in the financial department. Isn't it wonderful how these two characters provide so much context?
