Do you ever think about why a word has multiple meanings? Consider the word second. It is 1/60th of a minute. It is also a chance to support another person’s opinion. And, as a standing, second can be frustrating for competitive types who wanted to be first. Business— and life inside a business— can be just as confusing. Many of the companies on this list have realized there are no absolutes in business, only many different ways of looking at a problem. First, second, or last, they are on the list, one that has grown to include 250 companies this year.

Do your people know why you exist? I mean your organisation, not you personally... obviously. That wouldn't be for LinkedIn. Do your people know what your organisation's whole reason for being is? In my organisation, we're all clear (and bought into) our purpose. It's to inspire workplaces around the world where people can #BeHappyBeHuman - everything we do comes back to that. If we can't make the world of work better, we just don't do it. Every one of us connects with that purpose differently - but we all connect with it. It goes through our recruitment, it goes through our client work, it goes through every decision we make. When we work on onboarding and induction projects, we always make sure that purpose is the lead topic and a golden thread that flows through the learning experience. In fact, we do it for every client on every project. This article is a great read, and really supports the thinking that, when colleagues are bought in and invested in the purpose and values of an organisation, great things happen. Humans are incredible - we should unleash the power of that in our organisations.
