Traditionally If you want to invest in late-stage pre-IPO companies like SpaceX, Canva, Hopper, and even Locus Robotics you either need 2 things. 1) A ton of money. 2) Great connections. There is an alternative way to get access to these investments! I wrote this blog to highlight the amazing work that Stack Capital does to help provide access to retail investors for these incredible late-stage cutting-edge companies. As an early investor in Vay, I was thrilled to share with you all a while ago that they launched their commercial driverless mobility service in Las Vegas, Nevada! But you might wonder, why Vegas and not Berlin? Especially considering Vay is a German startup... The answer lies in the regulatory landscape. Las Vegas offers the necessary planning certainty, with approval to conduct Vay's tests without limitations. This isn't just about launching a service but pioneering a sustainable mobility revolution. However, this doesn't mean that they are stepping back from their efforts in Germany. The path to innovation is just more complex, especially with numerous stakeholders involved. But rest assured, they are actively engaging with German authorities. The support from politicians and the community for sustainable mobility and innovation is strong, and Vay's co-founder and CEO, Thomas von der Ohe, who was recently named "Founder of the Year" by the Startup-Verband, is optimistic about bringing Vay's vision to life in Germany too. In what ways do you think differing global regulations impact the rollout of green transport solutions? Can these challenges be turned into opportunities? Let's discuss in the comments... #DriverlessMobility #SustainableInnovation #Teledriving

While we’ve made great strides with our service in Las Vegas, Germany is still a big focus. We’re working closely with local authorities to make this happen. Thank you Nico Rosberg, for sharing your thoughts. In this regard, ZDF recently published an article, highlighting both the challenges and the potential for growth in Germany. https://lnkd.in/e48BwMDH What do you think – can Europe catch up with the U.S. in sustainable mobility?

In 2011, venture capitalist Marc Andreessen famously declared that “software is eating the world,” meaning it would quickly disrupt many traditional industries around the globe. But what about the automobile? Has software finally started eating your car as well? Join Alex Koster, a managing director and senior partner at BCG, as he explains just how fundamentally software has begun to alter this major global industry, whose main product, the car, has changed relatively little over the last 100 years. Discover the new face of self-driving vehicles as a real-world case example, exploring how the cabins of the future will offer a more immersive experience for both riders and drivers alike. Find out why the rise of electric and self-driving cars can help to encourage cooperation between the auto and tech industries while also forcing cities to reimagine their streets, promote sustainability, and make long-term investments to enhance public space. #automotivetechnology, #automotivedesign

"Do things that don't scale" Paul Graham "You can get robots to work for you" Pieter Levels These are my two favourite quotes in the startup world. I like the first because IMO is the key to finding product-market fit and to validate and refine your business idea. I like the second because it's the key to making money without too much work leveraging software. Basically, use the first one to find out what to scale, then the second to actually scale it.

My shout-out this week goes to Pelikan Mobility. And the wonderful team that built this product: David Salfati & Vincent Schachter. Pelikan Mobility is a French startup that I follow. Who is now a pivotal player in going from diesel to digital. They are doing a great job of transitioning commercial fleets from diesel to electric vehicles What makes them special? Here are a few things: 👉 built a sophisticated software solution 👉 an innovative leasing solution tailored for commercial EVs 👉 recently secured €4 million seed investment round 👉 investors that joined: Pale Blue Dot, Frst, and Seedcamp ... and more that I invite you to read on the EUVC latest newsletter. Link in comments. 🔽 How about you? Let's show our appreciation more often! Leave your shout-out to a product you love in the comments section! #venturecapital #angelinvesting #startupfunding #europe

#Read | From Uber to Impact: Fireside Chat with Rui Bento by maze impact and Endeavor Portugal 🛋️ Last month, we hosted a fireside chat where Rui Bento, a Venture Partner at maze, shared his journey. Moderated by Pedro Ribeiro Santos from Armilar, the discussion spanned Rui’s experiences and challenges at Uber, co-founding and exiting Kitch, and his new venture in electric mobility. 📌 One key takeaway is that impact isn’t just about avoiding harm — it’s an intentional and core element of successful business models. Click to read the full article on all the event's insights 👉 https://bit.ly/4gG8ZCd Thank you, Rui Bento, Antonio Miguel, Ricardo Mesquita, Mariana Barbosa (she/her), Pedro Ribeiro Santos, and the whole maze team for making this event a success. ⭐

What an Incredible time with the amazing Executive #MBA s at Cambridge Judge Business School at University of Cambridge . [ No -before you shoot me- I still love you very much my Alma mater Saïd Business School, University of Oxford :) ] Each time am back the #MBA or EMBA - at other of these two schools- it's really interesting that I learn from the class as much as they learn from me. Every cohort is unique and special and provides terrific insights. Questions ranged from what is #blueeconomy to how a #founder deals with #failure to what #carbonpricing is to how to choose #investors to how the entire #assetclass is adding value (or not!) and why you have to be crazy to want to be an #entrepreneur as it really doesn't make much logical sense ... #startup #cohort #business #blueeconomy

Hard to imagine a day where you have heard from Gabriel Rozenberg and Lewis Jenkins about their journeys in Net Zero Entrepreneurship getting any better. But it can! Very proud to welcome the amazing Joyeeta Das to Cambridge Judge Business School. SamudraOceans is an astonishing marine robotics company and we and the Executive MBAs are learning so much from her vision and approach.

Next Tuesday during StartupCincy Week I’ll be moderating a panel for Blue North called “Going Deep on Deep Tech” with three of Northern Kentucky’s top deep tech startups. We’ll have a chat about what’s different when building for IRL, why they’re working on such hard problems, and how they came to build their companies in Northern Kentucky. I’ve been working in tech around here for a minute, and these are three of the coolest companies I’ve met. DETAILS Calendar: Tuesday, October 8 at 4:15pm Venue: Miami Center for Community Engagement (13th & Vine) Tickets: https://lnkd.in/dER3BhNb Code: “SUCW10” for 10% off SPEAKERS 🧳 Y. John Yuksel and Matine Yuksel are co-founders of Beltways. They’re building the world’s fastest, safest, smartest accelerating walkways. Imagine walking to your gate in the airport at 10mph. I’ve tried one of their prototypes and it’s awesome. 🤖 Chris Lee is a co-founder of Airtrek Robotics. They’re building fleets of autonomous robots to keep the airport tarmacs clean from ground debris. Seemingly harmless things like screws or small rocks can be a significant threat to your flight safety when ingested in jet engines. So really, Airtrek is trying to make your future vacations safer. 🥚 Andrew Bliss is the founder of Ecoshell LLC. They’ve developed a line of eggshell-derived plastic fillers—and will develop their own line of reduced-plastic products—to help companies improve their carbon footprint and meet plastic reduction mandates. He just returned to Cincinnati after 20+ years in Taiwan to build Ecoshell here.
