In a win for the circular economy, Cleanaway and Pact Group Holdings Ltd joint venture Circular Plastics Australia (CPA) are successfully recycling coloured HDPE plastics into new raw materials for 120L and 240L SULO kerbside bins. At CPA’s Laverton facility in Victoria, materials collected from household recycling bins such as empty shampoo bottles and plastic lids and jars are sorted, shredded and washed, then turned into high-quality resin. The resin is blended with recycled plastic pallets made from end-of-life wheelie bins from local councils and waste companies across Australia, and processed at Pact-operated recycling facilities in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
Using recycled resin to manufacture new SULO bins reduces the need for virgin resin sourced from fossil fuels and can significantly reduce the carbon emissions and water usage from the manufacturing process. Local councils have started taking delivery of these SULO bins made from 100% recycled plastic, to be used for general waste, recycling, food organics garden organics (FOGO) and glass collections across Australia. #sustainablefuture
We’re now making our iconic SULO wheelie bins from the recycling they collected.
We’re using plastic packaging like shampoo and detergent bottles mixed with old, recycled bins to make new SULO bins for local councils around Australia.
It’s part of Pact’s commitment to lead the Circular Economy.
