Did you know that the roads are the most recycled material in America? Old roads don't just disappear – they get a second life as RAP (Recycled Asphalt Pavement). When roads are removed for repairs or upgrades, the asphalt is crushed, screened, and put back into new mix. #ThompsonArthur #CRH #SafetyFirst #BuildAmerica #NorthCarolina #Construction #ConstructionLife #Jobs #NowHiring #Safety #Career #Employee #JobOpportunity #Career #DirtWork #Building #Bridge #Structure #Bridgework #BridgeConstruction #infrastructure #AsphaltPlant #AsphaltLife #PavingTheWay #Sustainability #EarthDay

Who would have considered that watching landfill cell construction would be so informative? I found this particularly interesting as it's the process that goes into this work that makes you appreciate what's being achieved here. This video also demonstrates many of the qualities/reasons behind why it is so important to use the right equipment that's proven to deliver high quality content regardless of the environment where it is installed. Get in touch to add Timelapse to your next project so that the process can be promoted and shared like this. #projects #landfill #sustainability

Have you ever paused to observe #stormwater cascading down the street during a rainstorm? It’s a common sight, often overlooked as we busy ourselves with adjusting our umbrellas or our car’s windshield wipers. Yet, this seemingly innocuous stream of stormwater is a potent carrier of urban pollutants. Learn more about how Oldcastle Infrastructure's BioPod biofilter satisfies urban sustainability goals and local water treatment regulations. #greeninfrastructure #water #environmentalengineering #infrastructure #LID #lowimpactdevelopment #urbandevelopment #sustainability https://lnkd.in/eEi7RtnB

Tomorrow (March 22), at 1 p.m. Eastern, noon Central, I will be hosting a webinar on Trails as Resilient Infrastructure, with an excellent panel consisting of Michael Hintze, AICP, and Mikey Goralnik, PLA, AICP, both with Toole Design, and Sarah Walwema of Trust for Public Land. This webinar is part of a Sustainability & Resilience series for the American Planning Association, led by the Sustainable Communities Division, available for CM credits including S&R. Registration link: https://lnkd.in/gMzu-EW7 CM 1.0 S&R or 1.5 Regular AICP Title Trails as Resilient Infrastructure Description* Trails are part of a resilient transportation infrastructure system and can be planned and designed to be resilient and sustainable, as well as play a role in emergency planning and response. Trails of all kinds are places for recreation, exercise, and active transportation. They are also a crucial tool for making communities more resilient in the face of climate change and other emergencies. Multi-use trails can help reduce carbon emissions by shifting more trips to walking, biking, and rolling. Urban, suburban, and rural trail corridors present opportunities for managing stormwater, improving water quality, providing wildlife habitat, and inhibiting the spread of fires, among other benefits. However, trails can also be particularly vulnerable to climate impacts. This session will examine the ways in which planners can work towards making trail infrastructure more resilient to environmental shocks and stresses as well as towards allowing trails to strengthen the resilience of the surrounding community. Presenters from Trust for Public Land and Toole Design Group will provide information and guidance in support of these goals, based on recent programs and experience. *Excerpted and adapted from “Trails as Resilient Infrastructure”, USDOT, December 2023.
Welcome! You are invited to join a webinar: Trails as Resilient Infrastructure. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the webinar.
