At the end of July, Tovah will be teaching a virtual workshop geared towards helping trauma survivors understand their dissociation better. The questions explored in this workshop are: What is the nature of dissociation in complex trauma survivors? How can I understand dissociation on a spectrum rather than a rigid binary? What are some common dissociation symptoms? How do I know if I’m dissociating from parts of myself/my life/ certain people or memories/my body? What is the healing trajectory for dissociative trauma survivors? How can I support myself on the healing journey? Over the past 25 years …Loving Father, Childhood Trauma Activist, Award Winning Author, Film Producer, Entrepreneur, Trauma Informed Coach, Peer Review Journal Author, Tedx Speaker, Systems Disruptor
Trauma bonding, often seen in a negative light, can actually foster a greater sense of healing when two individuals who have experienced trauma come together. This connection can offer a foundation of empathy, understanding, and mutual support, creating a space where both can heal and grow. By sharing their journeys and standing by one another, they may discover strength and safety in their bond, ultimately aiding in their recovery. However, it's crucial that both individuals recognize whether their responses are rooted in survival instincts. The most profound healing through trauma bonding happens when it’s guided by love, not by the fight, flight, or freeze response. Trauma occurs as the result of many different types of events - e.g. medical trauma, trauma after natural disasters or after war. It can also occur after abuse or an act of violence or an accident. But not only these types of events cause trauma - and trauma doesn't always occur because of these types of events. Confused? Thing is, not everything terrible that happens in our lives result in trauma. Truly shocking events can effect people very differently based on what their previous experience is and what happens both during and after the event in question. I'll be going into more detail as to what defines trauma in my next post. Curious? Understanding trauma isn't just for professionals—it's essential for everyone. Trauma affects us all, but by embracing trauma-informed practices, we can support healing and growth. Being trauma-informed means creating safe, supportive environments where individuals feel validated. Recognizing signs of trauma allows for empathetic responses, fostering healing rather than judgement. In my experience, trauma-informed approaches empower individuals to rewrite their narratives. Let's create a world where everyone feels valued and supported in their healing journey. #TraumaInformed #HealingJourney #RewriteNarrative #EducatorTraining
