I have a little secret about my course... It's ALWAYS open for enrollment. When you buy Trauma-Informed and Relational Care for Libraries on your own or through your institution, you have lifetime digital access. And when you buy it, you'll be eligible to join the next set of Q&As that I hold. These Q&As are a space for you to ask questions, connect with others about the content, and integrate your learning and application of the content. The next set of Q&As start in December! In the comments, I'll provide (1) a link to set up a time to chat with me if your committee, department, or institution wants to purchase and (2) as a direct link to purchase. Click here to read about what's included: https://lnkd.in/gPYsvSQT

I recently saw a series of posts on Facebook from Little Free Library (LFL) stewards. They are purchasing custom stamps to imprint their books ("From a LFL, always free, never sold") and installing cameras to ensure people don't take too many books or try to resell the books. I know I'm not the first to critique LFLs, which are not curated to the same degree libraries are, but these posts about installing cameras really shook me. A dear friend, when reflecting on Little Free Libraries, once said: "You know big libraries are free too, right?" And now I can add-- and they care about and advocate for your privacy, and the right to take as many books as you want. Anyway, support your local public library, which offers so much more than books!

No one is a monopoly on knowledge; therefore, we will always need libraries. Although it has become more convenient to access information through digital libraries like ZODML’s online library, traditional libraries are still more popular. Nothing beats the smell of old books and that familiar tranquility usually pierced by loud ringtones. There is no doubt that conventional libraries will continue to stand the test of time, which begs an important question. What is the oldest library still standing today? The New York Public Library's study on Libraries & Well-Being (https://lnkd.in/gNQfMMvQ) is a watershed moment for assessment of library impact. I believe this report will have a significant impact on how we conduct user assessments in all public libraries.
