My letter in the Daily News on subway safety and congestion pricing Boost security Brooklyn: The increasingly unpopular congestion pricing fee can be reimagined to make it more popular and more useful. I suggest that 10% of the revenue from this pricing tax should be designated to increase funding for public safety. I believe the public would be much more accepting if they knew that some of the revenue is going towards hiring more police officers and making the streets safer, not only against criminals but against reckless drivers with more red light cameras and redesigned streets. Do we really need to extend the Second Ave. subway when ridership is down 50%? However, we do need to improve safety on the subways. Robert Mascali

The statistics presented are concerning: over 8,500 crashes in five years, with 317 resulting in death or serious injury. There is definitely an urgency here for this initiative, which justifies the city's focused efforts. Matching community needs with data analysis is an interesting way to go about this kind of change. This approach ensures that resources are allocated efficiently and that interventions are targeted where they're most needed and likely to be effective. #VisionZeroRoanoke #TrafficSafety #CommunityEngagement

Lots of eyes on NYC's new congestion relief plan. Candid data from MTA shows: traffic is down, bus speeds are up, and people are getting around faster. But there are new toll costs for downtown and midtown employee drivers. We share some suggestions on how to manage the transition for your employees on Actionfigure's blog: https://lnkd.in/eXVmV7Pm
Congestion Relief Zone tolling has been in effect for a week. Here's what the data says so far: Drivers are saving time traveling in and to Manhattan. Morning commuters benefited the most from free-flowing bridges and tunnels. Bus riders' commutes have also improved. Overall, local and express buses are moving faster, especially in the morning commute. Edit: We have updated the figure for how many fewer vehicles entered the Central Business District. The updated statistic is 219,000 fewer cars entered Manhattan below 60 Street from Monday to Friday last week. You can read the preliminary data here: https://lnkd.in/enfeHhXq
