When a family doesn’t have access to safe water or sanitation at home, children are among those most impacted. This was true for Rozina’s daughters. Without safe water or sanitation at home, her girls were often ill and too sick to attend school or play outside. Now they have the essential resources needed for healthy days of learning and play. https://lnkd.in/g_b4U4bN

Some of the underlying reasons for the development of state education back in the late 19th C and early 20th C Isn't is sad and appalling that school is still, 100yrs later, the place of safety, of reduced hunger and of monitored health!? I often wonder what the earliest educationalists would make of schooling in 2024

That many children returning to school this week will eat properly again for the first time in 6 weeks; that many will feel safe again after the holiday; that many will have caring and stability and support and concern for the first time since July. This is one of the great tragedies of this country. For many children, school is so much more than just learning.

Today is World Water Day—a day to reflect on the importance of safe water for all. Did you know that access to safe water and sanitation services can impact a child’s education? Water-related illnesses can keep children out of school, and many children, particularly girls, spend hours each day helping collect water for their families instead of attending class. #WorldWaterDay #EducationMatters

Equipping preteens and teens to thrive with self-awareness, confidence, and responsibility. Cultivating potential through impactful skills for informed decision-making and strong values
A Wake-Up Call for Parents and Schools! The recent tragic school fires that claimed young lives left most of us heartbroken. As we grapple with this devastating loss, it's crucial to reflect on our roles in safeguarding children. This incident raised serious questions about: - School safety standards - Regular inspections - Emergency preparedness As parents, we must take an active role in ensuring our children's safety, both at home and in school. While we can't control everything, we can empower our kids with essential life skills. Here are six strategies to teach children about differentiating problems from emergencies: 1. Define clearly: Emergencies are immediate dangers requiring urgent help; problems can wait. 2. Use examples: Provide relatable scenarios to illustrate the difference. 3. Practice decision-making: Use role-play exercises to simulate various situations. 4. Encourage questions: Foster an open dialogue about different scenarios. 5. Teach communication: Emphasize the importance of reaching out when unsure. 6. Provide emergency contacts: Ensure your child knows how to reach trusted adults. This framework can help our children develop good judgment in the face of an emergency. What are your thoughts on improving child safety in schools? Share your ideas in the comments. #ChildSafety #SchoolEmergencyPreparedness #ParentingTips #SproutLifeSkills

By all playing our part in prevention, there will come a time when Aotearoa New Zealand is a place where children live a life free of abuse and neglect. This year we are focusing on how and where children and young people spend a considerable amount of their time – online. Child Safeguarding Week 2024 is raising awareness of some of the risks and challenges young people face when using devices and the internet. By the end of the week, we want parents, organisations and communities to: ▶have the confidence and knowledge to help young people make safe choices when connecting and sharing digitally ▶know how to respond when things don’t go to plan and harm occurs By learning and working together we can reduce harm and mitigate risk for children when they go online. Enabling them to harness the positive potential the internet has to offer. GET INVOLVED at https://lnkd.in/gxnVg7jA

School often creates a structure and routine that helps keep children safe. In the summer, it’s important that families create other ways to make daily schedules and agreed upon check in times, so everyone can stay aware and accountable for each other.
