Courtesy of SEIU & SEIU Local 888: Some things can be mutually exclusive yet true at the same time. Everybody loves pizza. Nobody uses pizza to extinguish the flames when a house is on fire. When your agency's 9-1-1 Communications Center is dealing with staffing shortages that are on average 30%, to in some cases, 70% short-staffed, by all means, bring them in pizza. Just don't make it seem like you're showing appreciation by doing that alone. Work with (not against) the union that represents these unsung heroes (who are over 80% women) to receive the same compensation as other First Responders. Support legislation in your state and on a federal level, such as the "9-1-1 Saves" Act & the "Enhancing First Response" Act. The issues in staffing and treatment of current employees must change immediately as we are truly at public safety crisis levels in a majority of 9-1-1 call centers across the United States. Some have even missed nearly 30,000 calls in one year. It's not often 9-1-1 calls on the public for help. Answer the call and support this legislation. Proper Human Rights Due Diligence, #HRDD, processes can detect modern forms of #slavery and #humantrafficking in your supply chain and should be considered part of the #OneHealth metrics that are collected, monitored, and actioned against. We help organization build #HealthForAll in their supply chains. "The following indicators are the most common signs that suggest the possible existence of a modern slavery case: abuse of vulnerability, deception, restriction of movement, isolation, physical and sexual violence, intimidation and threats, retention of identity documents, withholding of wages, debt bondage, abusive working and living conditions, and excessive overtime."
