“World Water Day highlights the essential role water plays in our lives” - We couldn’t agree more with that statement. We understand the need to provide safe and clean drinking water, which was the catalyst to start this company. “At least 70 million Americans get their water from a system where toxic PFAS ‘forever chemicals’ were found at levels that require reporting to the Environmental Protection Agency,” according to the EPA. Our last mile multi-barrier water purification system and our 12-Step Water Perfection™ Program are so effective that our water exceeds quality standards across the board.

A map has revealed the five states with the most water systems where drinking water has been registered as above the proposed limit for PFAS—human-made "forever" chemicals. New Jersey, Massachusetts, California, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania have the most highly contaminated drinking water systems, according to the Environmental Working Group's (EWG) interactive map. Newsweek analysis showed there are around 556 in New Jersey, 439 in Massachusetts, 263 in California, 202 in New Hampshire, and 125 in Pennsylvania. #environmentalworkgroup #ewg #contaminatedwater #pfas #badwater #chemicalinwater #h20 https://lnkd.in/gFyu4Ztp...

It’s great that the EPA has set standards for drinking water regarding forever chemicals. But I can’t wonder how this will affect the companies that have been responsible for these contaminants and why water systems and their customers (us) will have to bear the burden of complying with the standards. Another way industries use government to clean up their messes. https://lnkd.in/eGpKSwBw

In my new article, I discuss the Environmental Protection Agency’s proposed National Primary Drinking Water Regulation (NPDWR). It would establish enforceable limits for six polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) known to occur in drinking water. This action is part of EPA’s broader Strategic Roadmap to tackle the ongoing PFAS pollution crisis. If fully implemented, water systems will be responsible for monitoring PFAS levels, notifying consumers when PFAS reach unsafe levels, and treating their water supplies to reach the levels established by the Regulation. EPA predicts that doing this will prevent tens of thousands of deaths from serious PFAS-attributable illnesses. #NapoliShkolnik Read my article here: https://bit.ly/3OvNwz7

New Forever Chemical Rules Could Escalate Water Bills, US Cities Warn. Cities across the US are bracing for costly upgrades to their water systems as the Environmental Protection Agency moves to finalize the first-ever enforceable national drinking water standards for PFAS — or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. Do you know what methodologies need to be followed for PFAS screening in environmental samples? We base our PFAS screen for environmental samples on the most recent version of the US EPA method for full compliance. Our method also incorporates the PFAS listed on the new Drinking Water Inspectorate guidance. #DYK the average household’s annual water loss to leaks is enough water to do 270 loads of laundry? That's approximately 10,000 gallons of lost water each year. Leaks can run, but they can’t hide! Even minor, easy-to-fix leaks can equal significant loss of water. Don’t let them run you dry! Toxic “forever chemicals” known as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances or PFAS are reported to have affected the drinking water of 26 million people in hundreds of U.S. communities. In 2022, Florida legislation was passed requiring statewide rules to clean up PFAS in drinking water, groundwater and soil. Federal action against PFAS increased with the establishment of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) PFAS Strategic Roadmap. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a Unilateral Administrative Order to a water company in California, citing the Safe Drinking Water Act over maximum allowable levels for total trihalomethanes. The company must now implement a series of steps to prevent further violations, including developing a plan to come into compliance with the limit by a set deadline, retain an appropriately certified operator, address any remaining significant deficiencies, and submit appropriate and timely water treatment data. Trihalomethanes pose serious health threats through long-term exposure. They form during the disinfection process, making them a top concern for water treatment plants. Luckily, the EPA provides the necessary oversight to identify and address local water companies that don’t meet these standards. It’s important that we’re authentic and transparent about water quality. New EPA rules on PFAS require communicators to take complicated messages and make them easy to understand. It’s a tough assignment but bottom line, Louisville’s drinking water is 💯. #waterquality #communications
Producing and delivering high-quality drinking water is what we do at Louisville Water. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalizes a regulation for a group of PFAS chemicals and Louisville Water meets the standard. Learn more here: bit.ly/3Jh9RO5
