Celebrating World Oceans Day 🌊 At Boataffair, we understand the crucial role we play in preserving our oceans. We have implemented a range of eco-friendly measures for ourselves, our guests, and our partners in the yacht charter industry. Sustainable yacht charter encompasses the behaviours of the entire ecosystem in the industry, including yachts, guests, crew practices, yacht owners, agents, brokers, suppliers, and operators. As Stephen Covey famously said, "What course you take is far more important than how fast you go." Our focus is on promoting an eco-friendly way of life both on our planet and within the yachting industry. This requires raising awareness, engaging in meaningful conversations, and fostering unity among all stakeholders. Superyacht refit demand is on the rise, and Palma is gearing up! As I was catching up on Dockwalk's January '25 issue, I read that STP Shipyard Palma is expanding by adding five new berths with an expected project completion in Spring 2025. Sustainability is a key focus, with plans to install solar panels and energy storage systems to reduce carbon footprints and support greener yachting practices. Palma is one of DYT’s main ports, and as a company committed to responsible yacht transport, it's exciting to see our industry shifting towards more eco-friendly operations. With growing demand for sustainable shipping solutions, emission reduction is more relevant than ever. For those in the industry, understanding emission reduction regulations and their financial impact on shipping is becoming an essential consideration. This article breaks down the key changes and what they mean for yacht transport: https://lnkd.in/dFpKP5_U #DYTPalma #SustainableYachting #dytyachttransport #PalmaDeMallorca DYT Yacht Transport

In an industry as dynamic and forward-thinking as yachting, staying connected and sharing knowledge is not just beneficial, it’s crucial. That’s why I actively engage in networking events, convinced that the exchange with key players in the nautical sector is essential for driving progress. These opportunities allow us to not only gain valuable technical insights to refine our projects but also to explore broader, industry-shaping ideas. One such idea that has come into sharper focus through discussions with fellow Captains is the urgent need for sustainability. Sustainability is not just a collective responsibility, it’s also a rising market trend. When tackling new builds or significant refits, focusing on eco-friendly yachts adds real value. Not only do these vessels have a positive environmental impact, but they also hold a competitive edge over traditional yachts in the marketplace. So I ask myself, how is it possible that in an industry like yachting, long known for its innovation and experimentation, we are moving so slowly towards sustainability? A sector that introduced advanced technologies like onboard automation over 20 years ago should also be leading in this area. Yet, despite the clear ecological and economic benefits, there seems to be a certain resistance to adopting sustainable solutions on a larger scale. It’s up to us, as Captains, to set the example. We need to be actively involved in the construction process, initiating open discussions with all stakeholders, and sharing information. Only by staying informed about the latest advancements can we offer shipowners the best, greenest options available. This is how we build trust across the entire system, creating a lasting impact and driving meaningful change. This way, we can establish a virtuous cycle that benefits everyone, including the future of our oceans. “Saint Barths: Technology and the Privacy Paradox in Luxury Yachting ” The end of 2024 gave us a breathtaking view of Saint Barths, with an extraordinary number of superyachts gathering in the area for the holiday season. Thanks to platforms like MarineTraffic and SuperYachtFan, we can now see this activity in real-time and gain insights into the yachting world like never before. These platforms not only allow us to track the movements of yachts but also provide fascinating details about their design, specifications, and sometimes even their owners. This technological transparency showcases the allure of yachting but also highlights an essential advantage of chartering: privacy. When you rent a superyacht: • Discretion is Guaranteed: While the yacht’s presence may be visible, who’s on board remains a mystery. This makes chartering ideal for those seeking privacy while indulging in luxury. • Ultimate Flexibility: Enjoy the lifestyle of ownership without the commitments, exploring different yachts and destinations. • Top-Tier Experiences: Charters offer access to the same services, crews, and amenities that owners enjoy. The Role of Technology in Yachting Platforms like MarineTraffic help enthusiasts and industry professionals understand trends, such as the record-breaking density of yachts in Saint Barths this year. Meanwhile, SuperYachtFan gives us insights into the stories behind these magnificent vessels, turning the world of superyachts into something more accessible and inspiring. Reflection: This new era of transparency has opened up the luxury yachting experience to a broader audience. Chartering is no longer just a service; it’s the key to enjoying the best of this world discreetly and on your terms. The 5th of June, marked "World Environment Day," and as a strong supporter of the concept "we can always do better than the status quo," it's very exciting to challenge the marine industry in becoming more #sustainable with new technology and experiences. Few industries rely so directly on their environment as yachting. As such, sustainability is a much-used term in yachting. but fundamental change to this industry is only slowly being realized. Sialia and Aqua are charging ahead by making electric yachting a comfortable reality. With #EV gaining traction in the marine industry, understandably, many questions relate to #charging and range anxiety. At Sialia Yachts, we prioritize adaptability without compromises. You can tailor the battery capacity to your needs or incorporate a variable speed range extender running on #HVO, operating only when necessary. In most European marinas, reliable electric connections are readily available. Companies like Aqua superPower Limited are creating corridors along coastlines with fast chargers, allowing for a nice top-up during an ice cream stop or a nice lunch before heading out again. Look how easy it is! Casting: Johan Åström - Sales Director and Ivo Hagemans - Marketing Director Yacht Club de Monaco www.sialia-yachts.com
