Before and after of a recent slab jacking project. Image 1 shows the team measuring the slab height difference before the slab jacking. Image 2 shows the completed slab jacking project, with 30mm lift being achieved and the tripping hazard being eliminated. Concrete repair and joint sealant are required for continued protection.

Prestressed Concrete Vocab Power-up! Let's decode some key terms in prestressed concrete: Tendon: The superhero! High-strength steel cables/wires that are tensioned to compress concrete. Supplementary Reinforcement: Regular steel rebar placed within the concrete section for additional strength & ductility. Cement Grout: A special mortar used to fill ducts around tendons after tensioning, protecting them from corrosion & bonding them to the concrete. Stress-Cap: A steel anchor plate that distributes the tendon's force over a wider concrete area at the end. Cable Cranking: The process of stressing tendons using jacks that pull the cable taut. Cranking Load: The temporary tensile force applied to the tendon during stressing. Now you can speak the language of prestressed concrete! #civilengineering #prestressedconcrete #vocabulary

This is why it is so important to maintain expansion joints. There is no safe way to properly repair this deteriorated concrete post tensioned slab along the joint without first detensioning the slab tendons. Note the severe corrosion on the reinforcement bar and post tensioned tendon anchor (26,000 lbs of force pushing on spalled concrete). What should have just been a routine $10,000 expansion joint replacement in the past now turns to a $300,000+ post tensioned beam strengthening + slab tendon repair program at this one location… Walker Consultants #corrosion #posttensioning #parkingstructure #restoration

Load lines play a crucial role in the lifting and positioning of large concrete panels. 🏗 The attachment process typically involves securing lifting inserts or embedded anchors within the concrete panels during casting. ⚓ These inserts are strategically placed to balance the load and minimize stress on the panels during lifting. ⚖ Once the concrete has cured and the panel is ready to be lifted, the load lines are attached to these inserts using specialized lifting hardware, such as spreader bars and lifting slings, to distribute the weight evenly. 🛠 #concrete #construction #concreteconstruction #concretecontractor #southconcreteconstructors

🔩 Expansion bolts are widely used in construction, bridges, mechanical equipment, electrical equipment and other fields. 🔩 Metal expansion bolts are one of the types of expansion bolts, which are generally used for the fastening of guardrails, canopies, air-conditioners, etc. on concrete, brick and other materials. 🔩 The following is the working principle of metal expansion bolts。 #ExpansionBolts #SleeveAnchor #WallBolt #Bolts #Fasteners

Crank bars, also known as bent-up bars, are provided in slabs for the following reasons: 1. **Shear Resistance**: Crank bars help in resisting shear forces, especially near supports where shear forces are generally high. 2. **Distribution of Load**: They help in distributing the load more evenly across the slab, providing additional support where needed. 3. **Anchorage**: The bent-up portion of the bars provides better anchorage and bonding with the concrete, ensuring that the reinforcement stays in place and works effectively. 4. **Preventing Sagging**: Crank bars help in preventing sagging and deflection of the slab by providing additional support to the concrete. In summary, crank bars are essential for enhancing the structural integrity and load-bearing capacity of slabs in construction. Feel free to ask a question in relation for this...
