Bulgaria and Greece have a lot in common, thanks to being neighbors in the Balkan Peninsula. Here's a quick rundown of some of our shared traits, with a dash of humor: -🧑🤝🧑 Balkan Buddies: We’re Balkan besties sharing a 494-kilometer border, making neighborly visits a breeze. - 🏛️ Ancient Pals: Greece has its ancient philosophers, and Bulgaria has its Thracian warriors. Together, we've got history that could fill a library—or at least a few epic Netflix series. - 📖 Alphabet Soup: Bulgaria gave the world the Cyrillic alphabet, with a little help from Greek missionaries. Who knew spreading literacy could be so cross-border? - 🏢 EU and NATO Neighbors: Both are in the EU and NATO, which means we get to attend the same bureaucratic parties and security meetings. - 🍴 Cuisine Cousins: Whether it's Bulgarian yogurt or Greek feta, both cuisines are about fresh, tasty, and sometimes heart-stoppingly delicious food. Just try not to fight over who makes the best moussaka. 😂 - ⛵ Tourist Twins: Stunning beaches, majestic mountains, and ancient ruins—both are tourist magnets. Just don't ask to pick the best spot; it might start another friendly rivalry. In short, Bulgaria and Greece are like sibling countries—sometimes bickering, always competitive, but deeply connected in history, culture, and spirit. The Clifford Chance Real Estate team in London has advised Nuveen, a TIAA company on a €540 million joint venture with Global Student Accommodation for the acquisition of Gecina's YouFirst Campus PBSA portfolio in France. Joana Neto Mestre, Managing Partner at MATLAW, attended the last Real Estate MeetUp organized by the American Club of Lisbon on Tuesday, May 14, at Grémio Literário in Lisbon.    The Real Estate MeetUp, a significant gathering for entrepreneurs and investors in the international real estate sector, serves as a platform for knowledge sharing and networking.   This edition featured Norfin & Arrow Global as special guests. It was an exciting session which featured a presentation by Francisco Sottomayor (CEO of Norfin) and Andre David Nunes (CIO of Arrow Global) on the real estate market in Portugal.    Amongst other, Francisco and André tackled: - The housing crisis in Portugal and the shortness of supply in the mid and low residential assets - The growing weight of American investment in the sector - Norfin's ongoing projects, being the wide majority of them located in Lisbon (downtown Lisbon, Carcavelos, Aroeira) and the Algarve (Vilamoura, Palmares Ocean Living and Quinta do Lago).   This presentation was followed by a pleasant dinner, during which real estate, the challenges facing the sector, and the upcoming American elections were topics of conversation.
