Every Tuesday we send out a Jobs Bulletin with a collection of jobs in the movement. We will be featuring one of those roles here on LinkedIn on Thursdays. If you are interested in the full newsletter you can subscribe: https://ow.ly/fPjG50QX1ai Featured Job: The LIFT Fund: Program Manager About the organization: The LIFT Fund, or Labor Innovations for the 21st Century Fund (LIFT) Fund, is a unique collaborative fund dedicated to supporting new forms of worker organizing and coalition building between philanthropy and the labor movement. By pooling scarce resources to build a common agenda and investing those resources into new forms of organizing, LIFT supports unconventional approaches that energize community-labor alliances to meet the challenges of the future. LIFT has historically funded partnerships on a national level, and has expanded its original Labor-Community grantmaking to include a Racial, Gender, and Economic Justice initiative to catalyze leading edge efforts that bolster coalition-building, strategy development, and/or campaign execution of partners that are centering racial justice and worker power-building in their collaboration. As a part of this initiative, LIFT is expanding its work to include California and exploring potentially expanding to the Midwest. Over the last three years, LIFT has experienced great programmatic growth, launching the Southern Workers Opportunity Fund. SWO invests in ecosystems that increase worker power and improve the economic livelihoods and social conditions for workers across the U.S. South. In its first two grantmaking cycles SWO invested in groups in Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and North Carolina to strengthen their existing worker power coalition–building efforts, expand innovative organizing tactics, and further develop each state’s sectoral strategy for civic engagement. Salary: $75,000-$90,000 Benefits: Generous benefits, including health insurance, vacation, and retirement options. To Apply: https://lnkd.in/gfED_zhF

#SUPPORTYOURTEAM #JournalistsHaveFamiliesToo #WorkLifeBalance #Management When I worked in news, the job felt like a mission - covering #breakingnews was something that involved, in a few cases, 19-hour days. Regularly 12-14 hour days occurred. In the field, you know what this is like. Many photographers and reporters will log 16-hour days covering a major situation. It's about public safety, community, and passing along critical information about life and property. That said, while we have a mission as journalists, we also have a mission as managers. Support your team, and realize on normal days, life is NOT all about the story. While many employees may not have a care in the world outside of devoting themselves to careers, we MUST remember that is not the rule. Most employees have kids, elderly parents, and even community obligations outside of a job. As employers, we must not only remember that, but we must celebrate that. Parents have a unique perspective on events and that makes our coverage better. Caregivers of seniors have a unique perspective that improves their journalism. People with obligations to churches, charities, who volunteer, who work on the PTA, who are in the classroom, who are cleaning up riverbanks, who are serving soup to people experiencing homelessness -- all have significant value to our business of journalism. We must celebrate and support them. While sometimes we all work 12-hour days, we also need to let people go home early. We need to say, "Of course you can go to your daughter's Scout meeting tonight. Why don't you work a day shift, and turn a HFR package? We'll be fine for the 10pm news. Thank you for all you do for the newsroom and our viewers!" Doing this regularly, consistently, so the newsroom TRUSTS that you will support their family and their needs mean THEY will support the journalism when the time comes. It has to go both ways.

If any social workers spot press coverage which misrepresents the profession or reveals personal details of social workers, please do report it through The Social Workers Union's reporting mechanism for them to take action. Together, we can improve media coverage of the social work profession. 🔽
Building on the great work with the British Association of Social Workers regarding media representation of social workers. We headed to OFCOM HQ yesterday to raise wider issues re broadcast and online content and a good opportunity to present our concerns.

Hope is not a strategy. Increasing radio ratings and revenue using audience insights and superstar talent.
The Non-Compete ruling from the employer POV: Culture > Non-Compete While the focus has been on the talent you could lose, how about we change the conversation to the talent that current restrictions prohibit us from hiring? When considering clusters of radio stations in a city, if you have the premiere brands and culture, you'll be able to hire the best talent in the market. There's a talent upgrade in every market we work in sitting across the street. But that's only possible if you've curated an environment that talent wants to be part of and are willing to invest in people. #radio #noncompete

COULD THIS HAPPEN TO YOU? In the past 48 hours here in Australia a highly respected newsreader was suddenly made redundant. Sitting in the hairdressing salon of the organisation for which she worked, she took a call from an “executive” who informed her she was sacked effective immediately. No warning no explanation. This scenario plays out every day around the world. This is why it is imperative that people, no matter how talented or loyal to their employer, have more than one stream of income. This is why I keep showing up FOR ME! Why I say YES to a life on my terms, to getting paid what I am worth. What are you saying yes to today or this week that will move the needle? You might be replaceable in your job, but you are IRREPLACEABLE to your loved ones and, most importantly, to yourself. Get up and do something courageous and brave! Are you ready to take the step to create your own economic independence? If not NOW then WHEN? Message me to get started. #financialindependence #dailypay #workfromanywhere #beyourownboss.
