Did you know Watts Water hasn't always been called Watts Water Technologies? Watts Industries became Watts Water Technologies in October 2003. Former Watts President and CEO Pat O’Keefe stated the new name “embodies our commitment to using leading-edge technology to produce products that will provide our customers with the highest level of water quality, safety, conservation, control, and comfort.” Learn more about Watts' history: https://ow.ly/5vhC30sEyNi #Watts150 #WattsWater

The implementation of technology in smart buildings to improve water management not only reduces water consumption but can also have a positive impact on the environment by reducing the amount of wastewater and energy use involved in its treatment. In addition, it can also reduce the costs associated with water consumption, as well as enhance the energy efficiency and overall performance of the building. Climate change, population increase and ageing infrastructure are putting pressure on our water supplies and wastewater treatment. New approaches are needed to enable an efficient and effective management of our water networks, including asset maintenance and leakage reduction. Digital solutions are at the heart of these approaches and Jacobs is pleased to host again Optimatics’ annual user conference, which is focused on knowledge sharing in smart water solutions. Our speakers, Ben Holmes, Juan David Santamaría Sánchez and David Cockcroft will share lessons learnt from two projects where Optimatics Optimizer was used. One study applied the tool to explore the process and benefits of optimising pressure and leakage in a study area. The outputs assess potential leakage savings that can be achieved by optimising the operation of existing valves in the short term, and further reducing leakage through capital investments in the longer term. The second project is a growth study, consisting of eight development sites that are predicted to significantly impact the receiving sewer network. The tool was used to understand what improvements could be made to the development proposals, and if any significant savings could be achieved against the overall cost.
