Wow! How has it already been a year?! I’ll tell you what though… that old saying “time flies when you’re having fun” couldn’t be more true. Here’s what I’ve learned this past year working as a Social Media Specialist for MacroAir Fans 1️⃣ Company culture is key for longevity. We spend a large majority of our lives in the workplace, so the atmosphere makes a huge difference on your well-being. 2️⃣ We are ALL learning. Not a single person knows everything about their craft, but being around people who encourage growth, and discovery make all the difference. 3️⃣ It’s okay to make mistakes. We’re all human…so it’s going to happen. We just have to shake it off, have a good laugh at ourselves, and learn from it. 4️⃣ Confidence will take you further than you could have ever imagined. 🌟 Last night, my FourBlock Colorado cohort had the fantastic opportunity to visit Maxar Technologies and Maxar Space Systems, a leader in advanced space technology and geospatial intelligence solutions. Maxar’s innovations reshape how industries understand and interact with our world, from space exploration to Earth observation. This visit was part of our journey on “Interviewing Successfully. " The insights shared were nothing short of transformative. 💡 Here are some key takeaways that I found particularly impactful: - Research the company: Dive deep into the company’s mission, values, and recent projects. At a company like Maxar, understanding how their technology supports global security and infrastructure can be the key to standing out as a candidate. - Ask thoughtful questions: Going beyond the standard interview questions to show your curiosity and alignment with the company’s goals can set you apart. This demonstrates interest and helps you see if it’s the right fit. Recon the interview location: This simple yet effective tip involves scouting the interview location ahead of time, which helps minimize stress and makes the day more enjoyable. Maxar’s approach to hiring for team fit rather than just checking boxes resonated. They value how each individual can bring a unique perspective that aligns with their innovation and teamwork culture. Here is his answer😊 I can summarize it in 3 reasons - ordered by priority - 1. the team, 2. non-monotonous work, 3. option to choose my own path. The team makes you feel at work like on a friend event. Of course there are ups and downs, but even in downs team was there to help to get out of the ... it.  [😉]  The work was always interesting, sometimes more challenging, sometimes more annoying and of course sometimes a little monotonous as at any other work. What also helped a lot that most of my team leads have aIways acted as one of us.
