Today is National Change Your Password Day. The Wave Cyber Team recommends changing your password to a passphrase instead. Passphrase, when created correctly, provides a more secure and easier way to access and protect your accounts. To create a passphrase, make up a sentence that is easy for “YOU” to remember, at least 15 characters in length, and utilizes standard or normal punctuation and grammar. Here are a few examples of nonsense passphrases: Crabcakes@theChefon4th Iputthehappyinmanhappy3yearsRunning Taylor&TravisAre4Ever!

Today is May, 2nd. World Password Day. But is that name suitable? Of course, a strong password is indispensable to keep your account safe, but it is not enough these days. Cybercriminals are getting smarter and faster. With these 3 tips, you can keep your account safe: 1️⃣ Use strong and unique passwords: Choose passwords that at least 16 characters long, are complex and that you don’t use for other accounts. But we know: remembering all those different passwords can be tricky. Therefore, use a password manager! This digital vault remembers and manages your passwords so you don’t have to. 2️⃣ Activate two-factor authentication (2FA): Add an extra layer of security and activate 2FA for your accounts. An extra step required when logging in, such as entering a text code or using an authentication app. A cybercriminal then no longer can get access with your password alone. 3️⃣ Train employees in recognising phishing, malware and other forms of cybercrime. Prevent passwords from getting into the wrong hands by helping employees with good knowledge of these threats. In short: as far as we are concerned, it’s world-keep-your-account-safe-day. Every day. Passwords are always a great way to assess the security of your estate, but this clip from Michael McIntyre just about sums up every password I have seen in the many industries I have worked in, and don't forget the ones like the company name, location they work in etc, with the precious number 1 at the end of the word, which in the mind of the password setter makes it secure 😁 https://lnkd.in/eYetVawu

Wednesday Hackings: Roku Roku Data Breach: What to Know if You Have an Account * What to do: As usual, change your password (if you used the same pw here as elsewhere, change it elsewhere) How to update your Roku password Here's how to update your Roku account password on the web (and here's a guide to keeping your passwords strong and secure): Roku has already reset the account password for some users, according to a notice from the company. If that applies to you, you can get back into your account by visiting my.roku.com and clicking "Forgot password?" You can also contact Roku support at 816-272-8106 for more help. Another way to adjust your password by signing in on the Roku website, hovering over the profile icon, clicking "My Account" and then "Account Info." This takes you to the "Account information" page where you can tweak your password. (A shorter way: going to this link -- https://lnkd.in/gaf6gaQD -- and logging in.) On the Account information page, enter your current password in addition to your new password and hit "Save changes." https://lnkd.in/gtjFdnnp #dataprivacy #accountbreach #passwordsecurity #IWasJustWatchingTVAndThisHappened (not a real hashtag# just made up for purposes of effect) (No AI was harmed in the making of this post)

The recent Netflix film, 'Leave the World Behind' explores what happens when the fragile fabric of society breaks down in the face of a crisis. It reminds us of how dependent we've become on #technology and infrastructure - and how vulnerable these systems are to disruption. At CybergymIEC, we specialize in training people to defend against and respond to #cyberattacks that could cripple critical infrastructure and leave the world behind. Our Cyber Arenas simulate realistic threats in IT and OT environments, preparing security teams to face outages, data destruction, and anything adversaries might throw at them. While a mysterious blackout drives the suspense in this thriller, cyberattacks on utilities, hospitals, and other targets are very real threats. We must work diligently to defend society's digital backbone and avoid scenarios where we all get left behind. Have you seen the film? What do you think businesses should do to strengthen #cyberresilience? We are curious to hear your perspectives. https://lnkd.in/ds5DXxjW
