A huge thank you to Katarina Stasova, Krista Tichelaar and Bex Levene for coming into Montash to host an eye opening workshop around neurodiversity in the workplace! It was a fantastic opportunity open an important discussion around breaking down barriers to create a more inclusive workplace and was truly inspiring to see their passion for driving positive change 🌟 It also reiterated the fact to me that as external recruiters, we are placed perfectly to have a real impact on inclusivity and diversity in many different workplaces! Here are a few ways we can make a real difference: - Listen to Stories: Understand the experiences of diverse candidates. Their stories can shed light on areas needing improvement. - Stay Informed: Continuously educate ourselves on the latest DEI news and challenges. Knowledge is power! - Engage in Conversations: Foster open dialogues with clients and candidates about diversity. These discussions can spark meaningful changes. - Be Proactive Partners: Collaborate closely with our clients to implement inclusive hiring practices and build a more diverse workforce. Although it may feel like one person alone can't make a difference in workplace inclusion, if each of us does our small part and sparks conversations that inspire others to do the same, our individual efforts can collectively lead to meaningful change. This afternoon, I had the pleasure of joining Katarina Stasova, Bex Levene, and Charlotte Christensen for an enlightening discussion on neurodiversity in the workplace. We explored the different neurotypes and the unique talents that neurodiverse individuals bring to the table and addressed the stigmas and barriers they often face. It was truly inspiring to see the genuine interest from the Montash team and also as a vendor of Swift how they can help us in making Swift a more inclusive environment. Here's a comprehensive take on what can be done: Ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for the LGBTQIA+ community at work starts with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. It’s crucial to foster a culture where everyone feels valued and respected. Start by implementing robust anti-discrimination policies that explicitly protect against bias based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression.These policies should be communicated clearly to all employees and reinforced through regular training sessions. Cultivating an inclusive workplace also means creating spaces for dialogue and education. Encourage employees to participate in workshops and discussions that raise awareness about LGBTQIA+ issues and experiences. Providing resources such as gender-neutral restrooms and inclusive language guides can make a significant difference in making everyone feel comfortable and seen. Today is the start of #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek! ♾🎉 As part of the celebrations, I'm pleased to share that I am now one of the co-chairs for DNA - Disability Neurodiversity Accessibility Employee Network at Business in the Community (BITC). Working with my co-chairs Paula Cruz and Michel Ma, and the co-chairs of the other employee networks at BITC, we aim to educate and support our colleagues to make our workplace, and the work we do more accessible. BITC's Advisory Services also provide inclusion support for Neurodiversity at Work, which puts me in a great place to support my colleagues as well as BITC members on an issue area that I'm passionate about. Why people don’t tell their employers they’re neurodivergent. Nearly a third of neurodivergent people surveyed for CIPD and Uptimize’s new report on neuroinclusion at work said they haven’t told their line manager or HR about their neurodivergence. For some, it’s just private, but others have real concerns that they could be disadvantaged.
