Inspiring insights released this week from CoLab, highlighting a great example of sustainable community development to support health and wellbeing in Exeter- Well done to all those involved at Wellbeing Exeter 👏 I am a big fan of ABCD which embodies a local, grass roots, community led and strengths based approach to community development. ABCD is built on 4 foundations of: - Focusing on community assets and strengths rather than problems and needs - Identifies and mobilises individual and community assets, skills and passions - Community driven – ‘building communities from the inside out’ - Relationship driven (it's all about those networks! #socialnetworkanalysis) Am I alone in feeling that community and social innovation initiatives are somewhat of a Cinderella in the world of innovation when it comes creative approaches to support the health and wellbeing of communities? 🤔 Innovation through community development may not be easy to adopt/embed/scale as its healthtech cousins, nor may it deliver the same ROI to the health systems in the short term? Community Connectors know a wide range of local opportunities and can connect people to those right for them.
