While most of the points referred to in the post are valid it has missed couple of very important, relevant and most prevailing aspects vize 1. need for reference (less of professional and more of personal). 2. Attitude: 2.1 Atitude of the "hiring" manager 2.2 Attitude of the HR lead 2.3 Attitude of the candidate, that too as judged by 2.1& 2.2, within 10-30 min of interview (?) duration. The skills can be taught or inculcatated with efforts and time, it's extremely, extremely difficult to deal with the attitude not only of the candidate but also of 2.1 & 2.2, which is impossible to deal with. Btw.... recruitment of the candidate is based on " did I like "him/her" or not ( by 2.1 & 2.2 separately and collectively. A fresher who goes through this "gains experience " to become either 2.1 or 2.2 learns to practice the same, with all his smartness 😂, with the future freshers. And it continues like this. I welcome the views which could be " otherwise" 😀

Why are pharma freshers not getting jobs? The pharma industry is growing. And no, pharma freshers are not getting jobs. Across India, campus recruitment has dropped down, drastically.   Here's why: 1) Who needs you? The skills that the pharma industry currently needs, and those that are actually taught to students, are totally mismatched. Top-quality institutes look beyond the curriculum and impart specific, non-curricular hard skills that the pharma industry seriously needs. In India, I can count these top-quality institutes on the fingers of one hand. Graduates from these premier institutes are snapped up. While other freshers remain unemployed. Mediocre teachers produce mediocre graduates. No one will hire a mediocre graduate. 2) Competition. Approximately 5 lakh pharma students graduate every year. That's not all. Pharma graduates are not the only graduates competing for pharma jobs. Science and biotech graduates also compete for the same jobs. 3) Great expectations - from colleges and their graduates. The top pharma companies are very clear about which institutes they will go to for campus recruitment. Assuming that they need campus recruitment at all. While, small-time pharma companies get snubbed by colleges, when they ask for campus recruitment. I know this from my own experience - having been snubbed by pharma colleges in Bangalore, over many years. 4) Location, location, location. Innumerable pharma colleges are tucked away in small towns. It's good that these semi-rural colleges provide education to local people. But, how many pharma companies would take the trouble to go to such colleges for recruitment? 5) The AI factor. This is the one factor that no one talks about openly. With the invasion of AI into pharma-biotech and analytical instrumentation, more companies are investing in AI rather than human beings. For a very good reason - profitability. Take HPLC as a simple example. Currently available AI-based method development and automation sytems are so good, they are capable of replacing an analytical chemist. And they already are. And will continue to do so. AI has invaded virtually all sectors of the pharma-biotech business, including supply-chain management, regulatory compliance, QC/QA, manufacturing, drug discovery, marketing and distribution. So where does that leave a fresh pharma graduate like you? My blunt answer to this question is: Either learn to use AI, or be left behind. In relevant Applicant as fresher. I applied in various Clinical Research Organizations, Healthcare and pharma companies and the most common reply I got was "We don't hire freshers." Despite of the openings are for the freshers Recruiters are Aware/unaware the interview patterns with asking typical questions that resembles the experienced candidates as if they are expecting the same knowledge, skills and capability as the experienced then what's the meaning in upskilling our knowledge in accordance with Job Description. I just want to ask if you will not hire freshers how would freshers get there first or any experience. Please consider our skills and our willingness to work, maybe that would be beneficial for us to show our skills and excel them with your guidance and you to get fresh and different ideas. STAY AWAY FROM THESE IMPOSTERS What kind of HR doesn't know how to properly post a job? And besides, no HR asks for sending a resume personally on LinkedIn. Guys, it's a scam. She hasn't provided proper job details, nor does she have any information about her position. She's labeled herself as an HR manager, but at which company, no idea. She's just collecting your data and will probably sell it for marketing purposes or to coaching institutes who will then contact you, asking to join their expensive certificate courses. Or maybe she'll pose as a recruiter and ask for some money for a job. Stay vigilant and always check the profile of the HR if provided and the company who posts a job. If the page looks like a empty hall it's actually a empty hall. Don't apply to this kinda jobs. Lastly stay away from all job post which are sourced from outside linkedin and are not directly posted on LinkedIn.
