Many say that there has been a disconnect between men in both personal life and work environments. Over the past 30 years, mentoring between men has become sidelined competing with a host of competing social matters. 1. Have you been, or are you being mentored by someone now in your life? 2. Are you currently mentoring a younger man in life or work? 3. Would you like to be mentored, or become a mentor? Feel free to DM your answer if you like. I've been mentoring men for almost 3 decades - about 450 high schoolers, 1,400 UC Berkeley Men, and now many between 28-40 as my life has progressed. If you'd like to explore what it might be like to put your hat in the ring on either side let me know. Nope, this isn't a fee based program at all outside some reading materials and a series of 90 minute meetings to help train up the next group of men. When Iron Sharpens Iron, good things happen. "The key to long-term success for organizations is developing and curating a culture of care. It means creating a foundation of trust through honest conversations. It takes leaders who are willing to understand that organizations are best served by healthy, growing individuals. It means creating space for those individuals to evolve in ways that may even have them leave your school." #TeacherShortage #Teaching #Education #JobMarket #Burnout

IMPORTANCE of MOTIVATION. The research shows that people who are MADE to do things, whether by punishments or rewards, are less internally motivated. Being able to make choices about our life and learning affects whether we are internally motivated or not - and this motivation matters for the quality of our learning. Self-determination theory argues that making people do things has the opposite effect to what we might want.

Does your shame obstruct your learning? 'When we feel ashamed or frustrated, we tend to shut down reflection, but we can practice using these emotions to fuel curiosity instead. The wording of questions we ask ourselves has a huge impact on our capacity to learn. Instead of, “Why I was so stupid?” Elena could have asked herself, “What thoughts and emotions did I experience during that exchange?” and “What assumptions and judgments did I make, with what evidence?”' #psychologicalsafety

"People come and go," they say. Throughout my academic journey, I've met incredible classmates, professors, and mentors. Some have become lifelong friends, while others have shaped my perspective in unique ways. This reminds me to cherish these connections, build bridges across disciplines, and learn from every interaction. Even as paths diverge, the impact on our growth remains. #Networking #GrowthMindset #Reflective

Many people have an entitlement mentality, but strong people concentrate on giving rather than taking. To some degree, we're all inclined to believe that certain laws do not apply to us or there's something exceptional about us. Here's the problem. The more you think you are deserving something, the less likely it will become that you will actually earn it. If you think that the world owes you, you'll just demand it instead of putting in the effort. So instead, try some humility for a change. -Amy Morin #entitlement #attitude #process #learning

"Mentors help people determine who they want to become, how they must change in order to become these people, and how they can take advantage of their college or work experiences to bring about these changes." - Drew Appleby, PhD, professor emeritus at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis Think that you can't make much of a difference? Think again. Mentorship has huge tangible impacts on mentees. Even informal mentorship can change the trajectory of someone's life. Reflection question: What is something that someone who you admire has said that's stuck with you and inspired you? #extraordinaryengineers #engineers #womeninSTEM #STEM

5 best tips to increase students’ confidence A confident student performs far better in academics and life than an under confident student. They are even seen to be more active and engaged in classrooms. It means that teachers should work hard on their students to boost their confidence. Here are some ways which you can follow: 1) Encourage positive self-talk: Teach students to replace negative thoughts with affirming, positive statements. It will help them increase their self-belief and confidence. 2) Set achievable goals: Help students set and accomplish small, manageable goals to build their confidence gradually. Because when they complete smaller goals, it gives them a sense of accomplishment. It ultimately increases their confidence. 3) Provide constructive feedback: Offer specific, positive feedback that highlights their strengths and areas for improvement. It helps students understand: 🔻What they are doing well 🔻 Where they can improve which boosts their confidence in their skills. 4) Promote a growth mindset: Emphasize the importance of putting effort and learning from mistakes rather than focusing on natural talent. It helps students view challenges as opportunities to grow, which increases their confidence. 5) Create a supportive environment: Foster a classroom atmosphere where students feel safe to express themselves and take risks. It promotes a sense of belonging and security and allows them to participate more actively and confidently without fear of failure. What tips do you follow to increase students' confidence?
