🌍 One of the greatest challenges the construction industry faces today is reducing its environmental impact. 💚 As we as a company work towards sustainable practices, we are embracing renewable energy solutions to help reduce our environmental footprint especially when it comes to the energy to power our compounds - that is still heavily dependent on diesel generators. ☀ We recognise we need to transition to cleaner, more sustainable alternatives and have introduced solar-powered pods at several of our project locations, which use as much renewable energy as possible to power a compound and minimise reliance on diesel fuel. 🙌 We are pleased to report that the solar powered generators have been hugely successful in significantly reducing our construction site’s pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions associated with diesel generators. As such, we are continuing to roll out the installation of solar power generators on our all our major civils projects in collaboration with clients, who are equally invested in building modern communities whilst driving sustainable construction practices. #renewableenergy #sustainable #environment #solarpower

The Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) is accepting grant applications for this round through June 30th, 2024. Applicants can apply for grants up to 50% of the total project cost. 🏗 One for our clients in the property development / construction sectors! 🏗 The European Union has formally adopted the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), setting a framework for member states to reduce emissions and energy use in buildings. Key points include: ☀ The directive includes provisions to phase out fossil fuels from heating in buildings and boost solar power installations and member states are required to ensure all new buildings are "solar ready" as part of the EU Solar Standard. 🍃 The EPBD requires all new residential and non-residential buildings to have zero on-site emissions from fossil fuels by 2030 and publicly-owned buildings must reach this milestone by 2028, with a complete phase-out of fossil fuel boilers by 2040 and encouraging renewable energy sources in buildings. ☀ The directive emphasises renovating existing buildings, especially the worst-performing ones. 🍃 The directive introduces gradual minimum energy performance standards for non-residential buildings, requiring renovation of the least efficient ones. ☀ The directive will support citizens in improving their homes and aims to boost construction value chains. 🌿 Public and private financing will be enacted to make building renovations more affordable and feasible. Overall the EPBD aims to transform the EU's building stock to zero emissions buildings by 2050.
