On June 21st, I had the opportunity to be a panelist and deliver a speech at the Wema Bank Plc. Bankers in Training Alumni Forum, discussing ‘The Future of Work’. The event, organized by Purple Academy was anchored and facilitated by Atinuke Onifade. It was an exciting, impactful, and interactive session. I gained valuable insights from other speakers and shared my perspectives on several questions, including: • What will career progression look like in the future, especially with the rise of non-traditional employment paths? • How can businesses foster a culture of innovation while ensuring employees remain adaptable to change? • What are your predictions for the most significant changes in the workplace over the next 20 years? Today marks my completion of 2 years in Deutsche Bank. I define this a period of opportunity, perseverance, passion, commitment and effective hard work. These two years have glistened my corporate portfolio with many achievements, rewards and learnings which helped me to arise as proficient candidate for my team. If any of my connection is about to start their career or are in the starting phase, I hope the below learnings would be helpful 1) Ask questions, be curious - In orientation this is the most common advise given. Mark my word friend...this is corporate, time allotted to answer your question is very low. Only your curious nature will help you find answers. Chase.. chase..chase till you don't find it. This will be difficult at first for you and your seniors...but you will surely get a hang of the same in 21 days! 2) College life ends here- Don't treat your job as a college assignment. Parameters of a corporate job are way different. You have to explore and get more from the resources provided. The discipline requirement is way higher. 3) Don't keep knowledge barriers- Ample of resources are available around you in the form of websites, process documents and most important PEOPLE. Never ever underestimate the amount of ideas and solutions you can get from these resources. Don't just be restricted to your team. 4) Do your RnD first- Rather than asking question with a blank face, read about it first. Try to find answers or partial answers. Then go to your seniors for clarification. This will enlighten you in a better way. 5) Call if in doubt - There will be several instances when you will not be able to understand something. Ring to the person and ask...do not assume. Sometimes there will be mails which you do not understand- if it's in your rules, call the sender..discuss the query and provide answers. Always remember things become easy by talking. 6) Be efficient in time management- Be it a urgent mail, market cutoff, a coffee break, a pool game or just a lunch everything is possible if you manage your time. Appreciation is not given to the one who sits longer. Appreciation is given who delivers more work in less time while utilising minimum resources. 7) Be a fire-fighter- There will be days you will not get any support, days with several leaves in team, days where you are gloomy...you have to move ahead, you have to fight. There is no space for I CANNOT. 8) Be empathetic- We have seen many posts describing the toxic corporate culture. Always remember things start when you want them to start. Be empathetic towards your peers...all are humans doing a job. Treat everyone with respect and understand the demand of situations. 9) Be You- Don't ever let your glam fade away in chaos. Remember who you are and what you wanted to do...why in the first place you joined here. However, if you are not able to figure out your "IT", just think about activities which will make you happy and keep doing it in bits and pieces regulary

Thursday the 28th of March marked my last day at New10. Also after more than 12,5 years my good marriage with ABN AMRO Bank N.V. and one of its daughters (that sounds a bit weird, but nothing weird in this context 😅 ) ended. It all started in september 2011 in the midst of the financial crisis with an awesome group of just graduated 'trainees'. Challenging times where on top of that two banks, former ABN AMRO and Fortis, had to become one. Starting with the group of trainees was really the best start I could imagine with so many intelligent and fun people. Some of them became friends for life, a huge 'bonus' that I never imagined upfront. I did many fun assignments, saw different parts of the bank and even got to work in Singapore for three months during my traineeship. Also, starting (and later ending) my first own company with fellow trainee David de Weerd, designing and launching our own watch brand, was something that was a side effect of working at the bank that probably would never have happened else. I saw many great departments within the bank, met even more great people, learned a lot, was able to try out and take responsibility, able to advice lots of people on data and innovation and got to make the step towards for me the most fun part of the bank, New10. There I got the full responsibility of everything that had to do with payments, and on top of that I became a real Mambu champion ;-). Fun times where I learned a lot and also was able to do and change a lot. The culture of New10 is something unique, a place where truly everyone can succeed. Not just that, it is the most welcoming warm bunch of people you can wish for in your work life...and maybe even generally in life. Two years ago I signed for my contract end date taking a 'career switch arrangement' that is part of the Collective Labor Agreement of ABN AMRO. This meant I would work for two years only two days at New10 and dedicate the rest of my time to my own company, berg & maan. One of the many great opportunities ABN AMRO and New10 also have to offer. Now it is time for new chapters in my life. A new chapter already started with the birth of our son Olav last autumn. When it comes the work, the idea was to fully focus on berg & maan but something new and super exciting came on my path... but more about that later! I want to thank all the great colleagues and friends I met at ABN AMRO and New10. The are simply way too many people to mention all of them in person and I would surely forget to mention people as well. THANK YOU to all of you who helped me becoming the person I am today 🙏
