Truly a concept missed by many in positions of leadership. Leaders recognize those under their care as people, not assets or commodities. Where they are weak, the leader seeks to add strength; where they are strong, the leader is not threatened but celebrates and showcases the strength. Others’ needs considered above your own — that is leadership.

Rethinking the Humble Servant Leader In today's world, the notion of a "humble servant leader" often gets misconstrued. It's not about being passive, overly kind, or merely maintaining a facade of niceness. True servant leadership is about embracing an ever-evolving journey—one where the title of "leader" is not a destination but a continuous path of growth and improvement. A servant leader understands that they haven't "arrived." Instead, they are fueled by a passion to uplift and empower others while transparently acknowledging that their journey is far from complete. It's about vulnerability, embracing personal growth, and inspiring collective progress. True leadership doesn't rest on past achievements. It thrives on a commitment to perpetual learning—both for oneself and for those around them. This is humility in action: sharing experiences, learning from others, and fostering an environment where growth is a shared goal. So, let's redefine what it means to lead with humility—not as a static state of being nice but as an active, ongoing dedication to bettering ourselves and those we serve. This is the essence of leadership that drives meaningful impact and lasting change. John C. Maxwell captures these principles in his teachings. He emphasizes that leadership is about influence, not titles ("Leadership is not about titles, positions, or flowcharts. It is about one life influencing another."). He highlights the power of empowering others ("Only secure leaders give power to others.") and the importance of authentic care ("People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care."). Maxwell reminds us that true leaders show the way through both example and humility ("A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way."). Embrace this continuous journey of leadership, as John Maxwell advises, and join the path of making lasting impacts. Learn more from John C. Couldn't agree more! However part of serving others is also ensuring that you are being the best you can be. In John’s bestselling book “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership” he teaches "The Law of the Lid" which states that leadership ability determines a person's level of effectiveness and potential impact. The "lid" represents a person's leadership capacity or skill, and it acts as a limit on their overall effectiveness. According to this law, the higher a person's leadership ability, the greater their potential for influence and success. In short, Raise the Lid believes that you need to serve others while also developing yourself. Big egos and entitled attitudes can bring a company down faster than you think. On the flip side, servant leaders rise above that by leading with humility, empathy, and a focus on the bigger picture. They create teams that work together and build companies that thrive.
