How to fix the education system 🎓
I grew up in a middle class family in a lower class area in the suburbs of Salford, Manchester.
I went to what was once described on national TV as one of the worst high schools in the UK.
It was even featured on a TV series about bad schools.
But it wasn't the teachers who made it bad.
It was the system.
Yes, some students made it a nightmare.
But nobody knew how to engage them.
The teachers had very basic content.
And most had no people skills.
They survived on authority.
And it absolutely sucks.
And hasn't changed.
Think about this.
Apart from Math and English, what other school lessons gave you key skills you use today.
What lessons gave you skills you can really use in your career and helped you land a job.
And how much of that advanced Math we spend so much time learning do we ever use?
We're too young and stupid to make smart choices when we're teenagers.
But we're hungry and willing to learn new things if we are shown the benefits.
Damn, I used to find and sell golf balls and wash cars to make extra pocket money.
If someone had taught me sales, copywriting, branding or how to build a website, I can't imagine how much more successful I could have been.
This corporate world isn't built on complex math or the ability to use a bunsen burner.
It's built on creativity and people skills.
We need great content.
And great teachers.
Today.
