It was great to hear Japanese allocator views on this growing asset class and also to learn about many great investment managers and their fund strategies. A rare and encouraging message for China’s VC industry - CCP Politbuto convened today to discuss the long-awaited third plenary session scheduled for July. While acknowledging the growing economic risks, the Politbuto stressed the importance of accelerating the buildup of strategic technologies and supporting emerging industries through the positive development of venture capital. The message from the party comes at a time when VC funding in China has fallen to pandemic-era lows including a weak 2024 start. Total VC investment in China in Q1 fell 30% QoQ to $11.5 billion according to KPMG. Only the AI, EV and clean energy sectors have defied the decline in investments. #china #economy #technology #growth #vc #investments
