This your reminder that Slack is an instant messenger - it’s not an instant responder. If you need something urgent from someone, nothing beats putting time in their calender and then sending a message to brief them on the reason for the meeting. (My team go one step further, they know if something is urgent they start direct messages to me with 🚨so I know it’s time sensitive at a glance) And of course, to fight the Slack noise, a blocker in your calender just to clean up Slack goes a long way to saving your sanity.

If LinkedIn was the #general Slack channel on a friday... Happy Friday, Team! 🎉 We made it! Another week of brilliance, caffeine, and probably too many “quick” Zoom meetings 🧑💻☕️. Before you log off and vanish into the weekend abyss, here’s a little checklist: 1. Close your 87 open tabs (or at least pretend to). 2. Set your Slack status to “Out of Office” 🏖 (Even if you’re just heading to the couch). 3. Mentally prepare for that Monday morning “What did we decide again?” moment. Oh, and remember: calories don’t count on weekends, and neither do notifications, so mute away 🔕. Have an epic weekend, everyone! See you on the other side! ✌️🎉

No one will take your kidney on a call! Virtual jitters got you sweating? Relax, your organs are safe! 👉 My first Zoom call: I've never been this social in my life. But after joining LinkedIn, I had to face new faces and a new community. I needed to get to know everyone and introduce myself. Nervousness during the first call: My hands were shaking, and my heart was racing during my first Zoom meeting. I barely managed to compose myself. what did I do this? I listed down some project-related questions and started the Zoom meeting. I started with a salutation and spoke hesitantly at first. But I managed to complete the meeting in a good atmosphere. After that, I realized that it wasn't that difficult. No one will take your kidney on a call. We all have some skills. We just need to find and polish them. God made every person unique and complete. Slackpocalypse: When Your New Client is a Chatty Cathy Just signed a new client! Super excited to work with them... except for one tiny detail. They let me join their Slack channel, and BAM! 87 new messages! 😂 Me: sipping coffee, ready to dive in Slack notification: drowning sound My brain: explodes in emoji confetti Has anyone else ever experienced a Slackpocalypse? How do you survive an avalanche of welcome messages, cat GIFs, and urgent project discussions? No More Slacking Off- Starting this year, the Citric Sheep are taking a hard look at tooling to ensure we're not being held back. Yet, Slack just isn't cutting it... Remember when Slack was the cool new kid? Those days are gone. The corporate takeover and desire to turn it into a business tool for suits has the fun vibes fading. Next let's talk money. Slack's not cheap, especially as your team grows. We've hit the 3 figure monthly mark, what's next? 4? Slack starts off friendly on the wallet, next minute, you're shelling out more than the office shout for a chatroom but too tangled up to jump ship. The real motivation though? Slack's buggy. Ever tapped a notification and got ghosted by the message? I'm finding this all the time, even losing the message completely. And getting help from Slack support? Forget it. They're more interested in upselling than solving problems. We're not sold on Teams either; it's not the right vibe for us. So we're giving Discord a shot. It's got the fun factor, the subs are per server, and we're hoping it'll be less of a headache. My fellow entrepreneurs and business owners! Show me what you've got! and on a scale from 1 to the Al Sulaibiya tire fire, how's it going? (Will report back in a couple months on how Discord is going!)

One thing I wasn’t expecting when leaving the company I helped found… The bizarre juxtaposition that: 1. There is freedom in knowing that no clients or team members are waiting for me to answer their question. 2. Phantom Slack notifications are real, I keep reaching to check in. I didn’t realized how addicted I was to checking in. And I didn’t realize the weight of that expectation. It is only now that the weight is gone that I realize it was even there. Take the time to identify the weights you’re carrying. Evaluate if you’re doing this on purpose or by accident. If it is on purpose, proceed. ✅ If it is by accident, pause long enough to identify the system that will relieve that pressure. ❌ This may mean delegating something to someone else or downloading the context only you hold so others can access it.
