I wish it were possible To keep my team happy all the time. Have a harmonious working environment Every moment of every day. But that's just not reality. No matter how hard I try. We have a job to do. Things need to get done. But just because I can't spend all my time Making sure my team is 100% happy. 100% of the time. That doesn't mean it's not important To check in with them And lead with empathy. Because just like I don't want to swing too far into people pleasing I also don't want to be so results-driven that I forget to care for my team. For me, it comes down to kindness. Treating my team with respect. Because the more they know I care about them, The easier it will be for us to work as a team. And achieve what we're here to do.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO AT WORK: - be in a place that isn’t work - talk about things that aren’t work - learn about your colleagues beyond who they are in work Yesterday was lovely, motivating and also relaxing after the slog of the last few weeks. Here’s to more of these! 🙌 #studio #team #teambuilding
What an incredible team ⚡️ TEAM GOALS ⚡ Yesterday marked our second Spark Inside Out day, and it was fantastic! We kicked things off by continuing our Confidence Programme. This time, everyone practiced their presentation and public speaking skills by sharing their Unpopular Opinion. The topics were definitely intriguing, with plenty of laughs, debates and controversy! It was a great way to help everyone step out of their comfort zones. Next, we had our monthly Like Club, which is always a hit and really gets our minds buzzing with fresh ideas. To wrap up the day and clear our heads, we went on a group walk to Rivington Pike. Even the weather was manageable – we had a picnic under the trees, enjoyed the blustery views from the top, and celebrated with cold beers at the bottom. A great way to blow the cobwebs away and bond with the guys! Days like these are essential, and we’re definitely planning more soon. Big thanks to Neil Marra, Calandra Tennant, Charlotte Wand, Olly Sussams, Anna Tolstoluzhska, Kate Rabjohns, Lindsay Brown, Nicol Pomfret, Emillie Watson, Abbie Lawton and not forgetting Max 🐾

Overdue picture from a recent onsite team meeting we had, coupled with three takeaways: 1. Find the time to get your team together in-person. The ideation and conversation that happens outside of a video call is invaluable. 2. It’s so important to set time aside for strategy. We all move so fast, and leveraging a talented team’s “group think” mentality gives you so many great ideas to improve current state. 3. Never, ever agree to a team building activity that you are terrible at. Who from New England prefers big ball bowling? Apparently, everyone but me.

How important is food for your team? For us, it’s HUGE! Every Monday, we bring the team together for lunch (We call it slouch). We chat about our weekends, upcoming projects, and enjoy each other's company. There’s something special about gathering around food—it creates an informal space for building stronger relationships and sparking meaningful conversations. When was the last time you brought your team together for a meal? If it’s been a while, give it a try. You might be surprised by how valuable it can be for team dynamics and company culture.

Do small recognitions make a big difference? I recently participated in a swimming competition in my residential society and won a gold medal. Even though it was just an internal competition, winning a race felt amazing. But the best feeling was being acknowledged for my effort. It was a small event but the joy of being recognised was child-like. Similarly, don’t we like it when we get appreciated by our managers, leaders, and team members for our work? We do, right? Then why is it we don’t appreciate them enough? For the work that we do in healthcare, there is no room for error. I was good at identifying the gaps or errors, and that’s what I did. I was a miser when it came to delivering an appreciation or recognising someone’s efforts. It took me several years before understanding the importance of appreciating someone and recognising their efforts. I don’t want you to make the same mistakes I made, and hence it is important to know - ↳ Acknowledgement plays a big role in motivating team members. ↳ Appreciate their efforts because they have given their best. ↳ Appreciating in public in front of others is a great way to build positivity all around. ↳ Find small ways to show your generosity and kindness. ↳ Have light-hearted conversations with the team. ↳ Give them a ‘Pat on the back’ when you can. Every human emotion is linked to feeling good about themselves and if they have done a great job, don’t hold back. Show it. If I can feel good about receiving a gold medal in my building event, imagine how much it would mean to your team members in your organisation! ✅Do you think appreciation and recognition play a big role in team building? ♻️Repost to spread the kindness ahead.

“Let’s get it” 🤜🏼 🤛🏼 A phrase HG’s team Manchester hears probably one too many times a day from Lewis Hanley. He ends every team meeting or ‘motivational’ speech with it Something so minor, but it sticks with us – setting the tone for the rest of the day/week. Who you’re surrounded by every day in this industry is super important… It’s inevitable that if you’re part of a positive and high-achieving team, you too are going to become that This also applies on the contrary – if your team are low energy and fine with settling for lower standards, you will get sucked into that cycle. Here are a couple of things my clients do to maintain collaboration and motivation across each desk: 🔶 When one person wins, the whole team wins – one person makes a placement, and the whole team go for an expenses paid lunch 🔶 Team bonding sessions every month – team dinners, activities etc.. 🔶 Team training sessions – if one person is more skilled in an aspect of the role than the rest, they will run a session for their fellow team members 🔶 Team gym sessions once a week If you’re in a team that feels more competitive than supportive, you know what to do.. 📲 07840062525 📧 c.munroe@highergroup.co.uk

Last week, the Brink team ventured to Fforest Farm in West Wales for our annual retreat. Our goals were to: ⭐️ Produce impactful in-person work and delve deeper into Brink's mission ⭐️ Forge strong connections among fellow Brinksters ⭐️ Create 'space between the logs' to be fully present with one another To achieve this, you'll need the winning recipe: Unique location 🏕️ Choose a place different from the everyday, ideally close to nature, so your team can unplug from all the screens Well-designed itinerary 🗓️ Ensure a perfect balance of full team workshops, solo working time, breaks, and fun activities (always include a 30-minute buffer after every team session!) Share the load 🤝 Nominate team members to lead different parts of the itinerary throughout the week, such as designing sessions, running a quiz night, or creating the party theme. You don't need to do it all yourself Follow the vibe 💃🏻 Be ready to adjust timings at the last minute to sustain everyone's energy. There's no point in making everyone eat dinner at 6 pm when they're still full from lunch… If you need any more tips on designing the ultimate team offsite, then drop me a message 🤗

Today's Spirit@Work value is Teamwork We took a bus to the winery in Sonoma, and entered the cask room for our team dinner. Candles were glowing from the casks and the table, long enough to accommodate our 50-person group. We strolled around the room taking in the ambiance and connecting more deeply. After we were seated, food, wine, laughter, debate, and camaraderie flowed through and around us. It was magical. That team was the most amazing of my life. For a number of years, I was blessed to be part of the absolutely more brilliant networking engineers and specialists in the world. The team was all volunteer, and was (and still is) all about community, relationships, trust, and, yes, love. When teams are actually teams, it's amazing. “More than anything else, teamwork should be about community, relationships, trust, and love. Ego and the encouragement of individual ambition in search of rewards often impedes group performance. It can be difficult to align ego with the need to foster the networks of community. But teamwork at its very best is a joy to the soul. Teams that are built on win-win relationships flourish as sacred communities. Successful communities do not waste their energies competing either within their communities, with other internal communities, or with external communities. They are dedicated to excellence, to their cause, and to inspiring the soul. Can you become a better team player?” — Lance Secretan, Spirit@Work #leadership #teamwork #spiritatwork

It is time to celebrate! When was the last time you celebrated a win with your Team? It’s easy to focus on what is missing, what was not achieved or lost projects. But what about the accomplishments, the efforts, the work done? A strong team should celebrate milestones and achievements together, in order to: ❇️ Foster unity ❇️ Boost morale ❇️ Increase motivation With these sunny days, no more excuses to raise your glass (of water, wine or champagne, let's stay hydrated) to glorify your Team! So, what are you going to celebrate? #teamwork #teamspirit
