This involves cooking in large pots that can feed hundreds of people at a time. Volunteering: The entire process is powered by volunteers, known as ‘Sevadars’, who contribute their time and skills. They handle everything from cooking to serving and cleaning up. Serving: The food is served to visitors sitting in rows on the floor, symbolizing equality and humility. Everyone receives the same food, emphasizing the principle of equality. Clean Up: After the meal service, volunteers clean the utensils and the dining area, preparing it for the next service. This system not only provides nourishment but also fosters a sense of community and shared responsibility. It’s a testament to the power of collective effort and the spirit of giving. Today, I am excited to share that DoorDash’s Project DASH is celebrating 100 million charitable meals delivered in partnership with food pantries, food banks, and community organizations. As people experiencing food insecurity grapple with transportation and time challenges, local delivery breaks down these barriers and connects them with the resources they need. These 100 million meals delivered include: - More than 63 million meals delivered to areas with a higher rate of SNAP-receiving households than the national average; - More than 12 million meals delivered to food deserts and about 15 million meals to rural communities; - More than 34 million meals delivered to areas with a higher rate of seniors than the national average; and - More than 49 million meals delivered to areas with a higher rate of people with disabilities than the national average. https://lnkd.in/dpTRZr-y

A simple idea that began last year by a simple act of giving has spread now across multiple markets in our #AMESA sector. PepsiCo's #FillingHearts campaign during the holy month of #Ramadan is now in 8 countries. Food becomes central to this month, however, our region is still suffering from acute food security issues and as a company and people living and working across these geographies it is critical for us to continue to play a role in providing food access across this month and all-year round.
