I'm not sure either to call it as a career shift, upgrade, leveling up, or simply a Hijra (Arabic terms for migration, but I prefer to see it as the search for "save haven"). My decision to go back to this desert island of Bahrain in the middle of my divorce, financial situation, and court case back home in Indonesia, brought me to this ups and downs. For the past 12 months I've been crushed by endless workloads and deadlines, I've met professionals from around the globe, I've positioned myself in a situation no one else might voluntarily sit on it, but I also found a glimpse of hope, revelation, a sight of how us as human being connected tightly to our vision, dreams, hopes, which eventually leads to our daily based activities. As a senior media and production officer in a medium-level event management company here in the Middle East, I found the fact that we had a very different culture either formally in terms of business nor the daily interaction with the people which affect us in how to treat events as a medium to exchange informations or broadly used as a way to do transactions, but one thing that amaze me that this business is rapidly growing in an amazing pace. Almost all of the global-scale events happening here; Formula 1, FIFA World Cup, not to mention the countless of international business meetings, seminars, exhibitions, from every sectors you can mention; oil and gas, luxury items, automotive, entertainment, aviation, and many more. In general, event management business would have the same cycle; "you are offering people your service which you are told to do something for them", but it is interesting to see how this basic concept has been evolving in thousands of way to offered and the packaging is always shining, once you're in this business, there's no way you can keep thinking straight, you're demanded to have a unique ideas, "out of the box" way of thinking, and "creative" problem solving, this job is not for the faint-hearted yes, but you need to use your heart to love this job. I found this interesting article to support this perspective, which I hope whoever reads it can have a better perspective to this business, keep being kind to another and stay safe everyone! https://lnkd.in/dXFDDeTA

Running overseas events remotely can be a challenge, but with proper planning, tools, communication AND a trustworthy team it is possible to manage a seamless execution wherever you are based…. I always recommend pairing your already trustworthy team with the right local partners for the job and destination in hand: • Hiring a trusted local team: Since you won’t be physically present, it’s crucial to work with reliable local vendors, event planners, or agencies who understand the location, regulations, and logistical challenges. • Local experts: Hire experts who have experience managing events in that specific location. They can handle venue logistics, local customs, and time zone differences, allowing you to focus on higher-level decisions. • Clear contracts and expectations: Ensure that contracts and deliverables are well-defined to avoid miscommunication. This will give you the confidence that tasks will be completed as planned. Every day offers fresh obstacles, imaginative possibilities, and surprising turns, making monotony an unattainable goal. The dynamic nature of events keeps professionals continually engaged and invigorated, whether they are handling logistics, creating unforgettable experiences, or troubleshooting on the go.Bringing people together for business, celebration, or cross-cultural exchange is at the heart of event planning. An event planner must possess a variety of skills, including strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, and painstaking attention to detail.
