Entrepreneur | Founder & Career Counsellor | Creating the life 'I' love | Let's connect and build a community of shared inspiration and growth.
Let me share a little secret with you!!! 🫢 When a new member walks through our doors at the office, I make it my mission to ensure they feel right at home. Andddddd, you see, starting a new job can be nerve-wracking, so I believe in setting the right tone from the very beginning for anyone & everyone who joins me…. Instead of bombarding 😵💫 them with a barrage of questions and tasks, ‼️ I take a more relaxed approach and…….. what’s that? they're usually eager to jump right into the work and start asking about deadlines and tasks. But I always tell them to slow down a bit and take the time to get to know everyone first. It's always me telling them, "Hey, don't rush! Take a breather, chat with your new colleagues, and get comfortable." Because, I genuinely feel that building good relationships with your team is just as important as meeting deadlines. So, how do you go about welcoming newcomers to your team? 👀

🥂 Cheers to Friday Drinks with Colleagues! 🥂 It's that time of the week again – Friday drinks with the team! 🎉 But before you raise your glass, let's go over some dos and don'ts to ensure it's a memorable (for the right reasons) experience! 😉 ✅ DO: Be Inclusive - Invite everyone to join, regardless of their role or department. It's a great opportunity to bond with colleagues from across the company! ❌ DON'T: Overdo It - Pace yourself and know your limits. The last thing you want is to be the talk of the office on Monday for all the wrong reasons. ✅ DO: Keep It Professional - Remember, you're still with coworkers, so steer clear of controversial topics and office gossip. ❌ DON'T: Mix Business with Pleasure - While it's a chance to unwind, avoid discussing sensitive work matters or bringing up unresolved issues. ✅ DO: Enjoy Yourself - Relax, have fun, and use this time to build relationships outside of the office environment. ❌ DON'T: Forget Your Manners - Be mindful of your behavior and how it reflects on you professionally. Remember, you're still representing the company. By following these simple guidelines, you can make Friday drinks a highlight of your week, fostering camaraderie and team spirit!

For my ops and event people out there… here are some key takeaways from someone (it’s me… hi 👋) who planned a week long offsite IN HOUSE 🏡🏡🏡 🌼 Know Your Team If you have the capacity to plan in-house, go for it! We tailored every detail to fit our unique company culture, something an external planner might have missed. We knew we had a competitive and active team, so we played lots of games and challenges (pickleball tournament, scavenger hunt, build the best Chameleon out of Legos, etc…) 🔑 Clear Communication We used a detailed Notion doc to share all the essential info with our team. This proactive approach set clear expectations, and answered questions ahead of time. I <3 notion. 🛫 Consider Travel Preferences Recognizing that everyone travels differently, we balanced structured activities with free time to opt into additional activities. This way, both our introverts and extroverts could enjoy the experience at their own pace. We also padded our agenda with only travel days that had no required activities, that allowed our team to arrive onsite and settle in before the activities started 💚 Focus on Connection The real magic was in the face-to-face interactions. Some of the sweetest moments were the time spent together with no agenda or activity planned If you're gearing up to plan your own team offsite, feel free to reach out! I'd be happy to share more insights from our process or lend a helping hand with any questions you might have.

Today was one of those days that reminded me why I love what I do. The sun was shining, the hi-vis vests were out in full force, music was playing, the team was full of energy (there was also some quality shite chat). We successfully achieved today's tasks, build schedule milestones, including landing and setting up our live phase generator compounds. As I left the site, I felt a profound sense of achievement. Over the last few years, I’ve transitioned into safety and operational roles for events. While these roles are incredibly important and rewarding, being back on the Site Infrastructure Management side of things has brought back some fond memories of the early days of my career. There's something humbling and rewarding about still being able to eye-ball the distance between blocks for Heras lines and having my trusty podger as a constant companion, necessary rather than just in case. Before we open the event to guests, there's still plenty to do, but I’m relishing every moment. What Makes a Great Day On-Site for You? For me, it’s the blend of: Sunshine: It lifts everyone's spirits and makes everything a bit brighter. Hi-Vis: The symbol of hardworking teams. Good Music: Keeps the energy high and the work flowing. Amazing Team: Great people make all the difference. Infrastructure Landing: Marking tangible progress. Eye-Balling Distances for Heras Lines: The satisfying precision of manual measurements. Shite Chat: The banter that keeps the day lively. Podger in Hand: This is an essential tool and a reminder of the hands-on nature of the job. These elements combine to create a unique and fulfilling work experience. It’s the small victories and the camaraderie that make each day extraordinary. What about you? What aspects of your work bring you joy and satisfaction?! #EventManagement #SiteLife #Teamwork #EventProfessionals #SiteManagement
