Hybrid System Spectrum Medical continues to provide new technologies specifically designed to improve performance and therefore improve patient outcomes. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 🌍 About two years ago, Prof. Karl-Heinz Kuck introduced me to Prof. Dr. Alexander Ghanem and Thomas Schmitz, and we met in Bonn during #DGK Herztage. We shared a #vision / to initiate a transformative change in advanced medical therapies education—starting a shift from the hands of industry back to medical associations. Last year, we brought this vision closer to reality, with the #AGIK Structural Interventions Working Group of DGK taking the lead in setting up a pilot for these academic hands-on workshops at the following Herztage congress. Months of alignment, agreements, onboarding, presentations, and preparations followed, led by the clear leadership of Prof. Dr. Alexander Ghanem and the relentless energy of Erik Rafflenbeul! We defined the educational scope: 𝟮 core areas, covering 𝟯 advanced therapies. Our aim was an inclusive format—catering to everyone, from those just beginning their cath lab journey to experienced cardiologists wanting to deepen their skills in advanced therapies and imaging guidance. The program spanned transseptal puncture, left atrial appendage closure, mitral transcatheter repair, and transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) guidance for all these procedures. With support from Abbott providing the necessary tools and devices, and GE HealthCare supplying the latest cardiac TEE ultrasound systems, we were set. We onboarded 𝟮𝟵 members of the working group, training them to conduct fast-paced, hands-on sessions. The result? 𝟰 sessions, training 𝟵𝟲 cardiologists in a single day. The response was overwhelmingly positive—all sessions sold out and even overbooked by 33%, with a 100% promoter score (9-10). Knowing we were making an #impact, the atmosphere was filled with palpable energy that we can still feel a week later. I’m Dr Jennifer Stewart and I’m here with the Woo’s Wisdom for Imaging Techniques and Emerging Therapies for Geographic Atrophy with Dr Carolyn Majcher. She first gave us a great introduction into AMD, and discussed risk factors, staging and classification. She then discussed the definition, risk factors. and prevalence of geographic atrophy. We learned about current imaging technologies for GA detection and monitoring, and she also discussed new complement inhibition therapies available for the treatment of GA.
