We are delighted to announce that we have recently agreed a 12-month innovation project with Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for the use of our behavioural management platform, Melo™. The project will specifically focus on how Melo™ can be used to better support the care of patients with dementia by helping staff to assess and manage changing patterns of behaviour. David Melia, Chief Nursing Officer at LUHFT said: “Finding new and innovative ways for us to provide the highest quality care is something we are passionate about at LUHFT. By providing colleagues with intuitive technology to record behavioural information about a patient living with dementia, we hope this trial will continue to support how we are improving the delivery of care for this vulnerable group of patients.” Read here for the full press release: https://lnkd.in/eQu3Ew6s

Whilst we continue to focus on how Melo can support patients recovering from a brain injury, then we are excited to explore the potential to also help clinical teams caring for those patients living with dementia - where changing behavioural patterns can be just as much a barrier to ongoing care. Watch this space for further updates!! #dementia #digitalhealth #innovation

Most healthcare facilities regulated by an Office of Inspector General - hospitals, critical access hospitals, long-term care facilities, personal care homes, assisted living facilities -- seem to have consistently embedded Advanced Directive-related questions in admissions processes. Have you also made the question of an existing Advance Directive for Dementia a part of your admissions process, and if so, what worked well in terms of operationalizing it, and how long did it take for employees to think about it as readily as the general Advanced Directive? Public awareness is probably going to need to follow industry awareness on this one. https://lnkd.in/gjkH2_dV #culturetransformation #organizationalchange

Continuing the embedding of #DigitalTherapeutics in the #NHS: A Pathway to Better Care Any digital therapeutic used within an NHS service requires careful planning and time to be fully integrated. At #cardiac sites like within the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, we’ve seen thoughtful strategies that shape the future of service delivery by making space for digital tools. It’s not just about giving patients access, but ensuring they understand what’s expected of them. This patient-centered approach has enabled NHS Cardiac services to extend care beyond the traditional four walls, improving accessibility while maintaining high standards of care. #HealthTech #CardiacCare #DigitalHealth #HealthcareInnovation #PatientCare
We’re thrilled to announce that my mhealth and one of the Cardiac Rehab Teams at the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust are continuing our successful partnership into a second year! 🌟 This achievement wouldn’t be possible without the incredible dedication and hard work of the team at Worthing and Southlands Hospitals, part of UHS. Your commitment to delivering exceptional cardiac rehabilitation has been nothing short of inspiring and the way you’ve embraced our digital platform to enhance patient care has truly made a difference in countless lives. Hayley Fairclough, Rehabilitation Physiotherapist says "We are thrilled to be able to offer the myHeart app to our cardiac rehab patients for the second year running - the app is supporting all patients in their journey and also providing an essential alternative for those patients who are unable to get to the hospital sessions, or prefer the flexibility of an online rehab programme." As we move forward, we’re excited to continue supporting your efforts and witnessing the remarkable impact you’re making in the field of cardiac rehab. ❤️ Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust #Teamwork #HealthcareHeroes #DigitalHealth #CardiacRehab

Examining hospital-at-home from a myriad of perspectives “At the beginning of HaH model development, the focus was more on taking care of lower acuity hospitalized patients and finding ways to care for them in the comfort and convenience of their homes. With subsequent advancements in technology, we can begin to safely expand this high-quality care model to more and more patients so they too can benefit” via Jiang L., Jared Conley, MD, PhD, MPH & Michael Augusti

🏥 Today we’re proud to share our core principles for effective front door acute patient care, in collaboration with the Royal College of Physicians These 10 principles (+ 4 more for SDEC) pinpoint ways of working you should promote and deliver to improve the patient flow and their overall experience Read more and access the principles: https://lnkd.in/eZEvXmZy 🤝 Working together, operational teams and clinicians can use the practical guidance points to gauge whether their service is delivering the care and necessary inter-specialty working as described, identify any gaps or inadequacies, and collaborate with colleagues in specialty teams and the trust executive to ensure the principles are supported and implemented. 🗨 We fully appreciate that some of these principles may not be standard practice for all acute care providers, but we present them as ways of working which should be embedded into normal daily interactions or which services should be striving towards, for the benefit of patients 🗨 - Mike Jones, GIRFT’s clinical lead for acute and general medicine The Society for Acute Medicine Royal College of Emergency Medicine British Geriatrics Society Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow Philip Dyer Adrian Hopper Leilah Dare Darren Best Michael Bland Julie Kennedy

Consultant in ICU & Anaesthesia. CD for virtual wards, Speciality Lead Acute Care, Cambridge University
After an excellent day the HETT Show I’m on my way to Association of Anaesthetists annual congress to debate the value of virtual wards with Clare Bannon, Carl Mayers OBE and Rebecca Barker. I’m sure it will be a lively debate! Many General Practice leaders, Dr Katie Bramall-Stainer, have reasonably argued that the money ring fenced for virtual wards would be better spent in primary care. I will be showing how a virtual ward like ours at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is capable of providing care for genuine acutely unwell patients, using continuous patient monitoring from Masimo to transform post operative surgical care thereby freeing resources that can be used to improve healthcare more widely. Rt. Hon. Wes Streeting MP and Keir Starmer have described the NHS as broken. Adequately resourced virtual ward services offer an opportunity to deliver real change, rebuild the NHS and improve patient care. One thing I know we can all agree on is that to achieve true transformation of the NHS we need closer, more collaborative working between community services, council leaders, general practice, optometry, pharmacy, dental and secondary care teams. #NHSTransformation #HealthcareInnovation #VirtualWards #NHSReform #HospitalatHome

New publication in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society! 📙 Read it here: https://lnkd.in/gWg4NUgD Key points: 💡 Thousands of health care systems are recognized as Age-Friendly, but the impact of this recognition on patient-level outcomes is unknown. 🏥 We identified 50 VA medical centers recognized as Age-Friendly by December 2021 and measured Veteran-level differences in facility-free days: days outside a hospital or nursing home. 📈 We found a small statistically significant increase in facility-free days (0.2 percentage points on a base of 97%) in facilities recognized as Age-Friendly, but were limited in identifying which Veterans received the entire intervention. Conclusions: At the individual level, an increase of 0.2% in facility-free days is a weak effect. However, sites were early in implementation, and facility-free days may not be a responsive outcome measure. Across an entire population, small changes in facility-free days may accrue large cost savings. 💸 Future evaluations should consider a broader variety of process and outcome measures.

📢 🧠 Unlocking the Benefits of Ambulatory EEG (AEEG) with AMS: At AMS, we are dedicated to advancing neurodiagnostic care, and one of our standout services is the Ambulatory EEG (AEEG). This innovative approach to EEG testing offers a host of benefits for both patients and healthcare providers. Why Choose Ambulatory EEG? Well, there's plenty of reasons! 🔹 Comfort and Convenience: AEEG allows patients to undergo EEG monitoring from the comfort of their own homes. This not only reduces the stress associated with hospital visits but also enables patients to go about their daily routines during the study. 🔹 Extended Monitoring: Unlike routine EEGs, Ambulatory EEG provides monitoring over several days. This extended period increases the likelihood of capturing abnormal brain activity, leading to more accurate diagnoses for conditions like epilepsy, sleep disorders, and other neurological issues. 🔹 Top-to-Bottom Excellence: We pride ourselves on a commitment to quality at every step of the Ambulatory EEG process. From our field technologist to our monitoring team to the reading epileptologist, we stay on our 'A' game! 🔹 Patient-Centered Care: AEEG is designed with patient comfort in mind. Our trained technologists ensure a seamless setup and provide support throughout the monitoring period, making the process as smooth as possible. We understand that we act as a representative of you when we interact with patients, and it's a responsibility we take seriously. Ready to experience all of the ways that a reliable AEEG partner can enhance your clinic?
