It's hard to believe that it's 2023 and we're still talking about book bans and Halloween bans in schools. But that's exactly what's happening in New Jersey, where a superintendent has banned #Halloweencelebrations and costumes from schools in the name of DEI and protecting students' dignity. It is important for children to be able to celebrate holidays and express themselves creatively. Banning costumes is a form of censorship that denies children the opportunity to do just that. So what's the common thread between Halloween bans and book bans? Is it a fear of diversity and free speech? Those who support these bans are afraid of exposing students to ideas and experiences that differ from their own. They want to control what students learn and how they express themselves. But we cannot allow fear to control our schools. We must stand up for diversity, free speech, and the rights of students and parents. Thoughts? 🤔 #HalloweenBan #DEI #FreeSpeech
