Learning never stops. Yesterday we completed the sixth batch of the course on Local Democracy in India for NGO professionals. The course was designed by Prof Ashok Sircar and me in 2021 and rolled out from 2022. The course consists of more than 40 sessions of 90 minutes each plus a field work. We are overwhelmed by the positive response from the professionals who have attended the course. We are also very lucky to have the blessing of a large number of experts who have accepted our request to take sessions in spite of their busy schedule. #localgov, #localizingSDG, #localdemocracy #panchayatiraj #azimpremjiuniversity

Did you know? India's literacy rate has soared sixfold since Independence, rising from 12% in 2001 to an impressive 74% in 2011. However, the progress reveals a dual narrative as India hosts the world's largest population of 287 million illiterate adults, constituting a significant 37% of the global total. While strides have been made, addressing this challenge remains crucial. Organizations like Eduvacancy are playing a pivotal role in promoting education and bridging the literacy gap. Let's work together for a more literate and educated India! #EducationForAll #LiteracyMatters #Eduvacancy #IndiaEducation #GlobalLiteracy #KnowledgeIsPower

According to UNESCO literacy is the base for people to foster a culture of lasting peace based on respect for equality and non-discrimination, the rule of law, solidarity, justice, diversity, and tolerance and to build harmonious relations with oneself, other people and the planet. Although India has seen development in literacy, there are rural regions which reflect that they lag behind urban regions. States like Rajasthan and Bihar require major transformative implementation of Government policies. Focusing on literacy in rural regions is the key to community and nation development, fostering social and economic development, and integrating 21st-century skills, such as digital literacy and problem-solving, which are becoming crucial in today’s world. #LiteracyDay #InternationalLiteracyDay #LiteracyForAll #EmpowerThroughLiteracy #LiteracyMatters #LiteracyIsKey #FIA #Foundationforinnovationandaction
