The Man. The Legend. And The Death of Agile. ☠️ Is it really dead, or is it just a pruning of bad agile practices? Our very own Darko Špoljarić, Champion, Fellow, and Scrum coach, has a strong POV on what's happening and why. Agile has been a powerful force for years, helping teams deliver better software faster. However, something has changed recently, and Agile has become bloated, bureaucratic, and slow. 🥷 But there is hope. A small group of brave souls is fighting back. They are the Agile rebels, determined to reclaim Agile. They are experimenting with new approaches, challenging the status quo, and spreading the word about the true meaning of Agile. 👇 Read our Agile rebel's blog and watch the video - it's worth your time. https://lnkd.in/dPTmvfWM #Agile #AgileXFiles #TheTruthIsOutThere

While I agree far more with Marty's blog than I disagree with it - it's a perfect example of why I've given up on convincing anyone their definition of "Agile" is right or wrong. Nothing I can say will compare with their past experience. If I push up my glasses and say "Well actually that wasn't real agile, that was a bad implementation, here's what good agile should be..." that is a weak position. To quote the Gipper: "If you're explaining, you're losing." Accept the premise, don't get lost in made up vocabulary, move on to doing things that make sense.
judging from many posts on here, and questions I've received, many people seem to be wondering about the relationship between Agile and the Product Operating Model. Is the product model just the evolution of Agile? Is the product model essentially the same as Agile? Is one a subset of the other? Is the product model just the next certification for Agile coaches? This is an important but also nuanced topic, so I wanted to try to address it directly: https://lnkd.in/gS55nijd

I've said Agile is a failed methodology because so many people focus on the process instead of the principles. This is an excellent article framing how Agile can helps with the Product Delivery dimension of the Product Operating Model.

Lovely article. High density and quality as always. I got reminded that: * Truth is often not new, it is old (the Product Model has been out there for over 20 years) * Definitions are important (what ís Agile?) * A lot of Agile practitioners have primarily focussed on product delivery part, where you also need product strategy and product discovery expertise. (Marty I know you are very precise so feel free to correct me if I misinterpreted anything. Never stop learning. See you in March!)

Great article! And I agree in almost everything, except Agile working only in one of the three dimensions, absolutely right that it works wonders there, however product discovery and strategy can benefit from the collaborative essence that Agile has at it's core. It may even help create a synergy between teams that in the long run fulfills Agile most underrated principle: Agile processes promote sustainable development. The sponsors, developers, and users should be able to maintain a constant pace indefinitely.
