Position Overview The Health Information Technology (HIT) Strategic Account Manager plays a role in supporting and promoting health information technology initiatives to assist Organized Customers in improving CRC screening. In partnership with the Sr. HIT SAMs, Screening Solutions Managers, Screening Solutions Specialists and account managers (SAM/NALs), the HIT SAM will support initiatives for customers for optimizing the many HIT technologies (e.g., E.H.R., P.H.M., add-on Solutions) which are currently being used by health system customers in-market. This position is field-based and will support the New England, Upstate and Western NY markets. Essential Duties include but are not limited to the following: Provide support to SSMs and SSS team to implement application of appropriate Health IT strategies and use of Health IT resources. Align EXAS HIT capabilities with customer EHR capabilities to appropriately and compliantly advance CRC screening rates. Provide insights to account team about customers and local market dynamics. Assist marketing in developing/proposing new resources/tools for use in-market. Assist in the development of HIT market shaping opportunities between EXAS and relevant HIT vendors, influencers, policy makers, customers or multiple stakeholders within key market ecosystems. Assist marketing in monitoring external technical and business environment for innovative needs and resources. Provide educational support to the broader EXAS account team regarding HIT existing capabilities and emerging trends/implications. Establish relationships with Key customer team members in health information technology to facilitate access to Cologuard and influence/change to CRC screening protocols. Work collaboratively with cross-functional team to uncover opportunities, and/or uncover underlying or unexpressed clinical/customer technology needs. Is it rich in Key Opinion Leaders requiring an experienced consultant, or is it an emerging area suitable for a less experienced consultant who can be trained? 👥 Team: Assess the current team's strengths and opportunities. What new skills can the candidate bring to elevate the team's overall performance?   🕒 Time: Consider personal compatibility. Can you spend 8 hours in the car with this candidate during field co-travels and enjoy the conversation?   💼 Successful hiring in medical sales isn't just about qualifications—it's about the right fit for the territory, team dynamics, and personal compatibility. People hate being ghosted. Talented and seasoned hospital professionals aren't interested in working for or with ghosts. There's a sales trend, and LinkedIn is full of people peddling lucrative 'opportunities' for hospital professionals. Lucrative opportunities to hit up hospital C-suite executives. Side gigs to make a ton of money are the bait they use. I often receive these ludicrous opportunities because of my healthcare consulting work and hospital network. Many can't share the name of the company that is 'hiring.' The name of the company changes often. You won't learn who the Founder/CEO is. You won't find a website, or it could be more sparse at best. Google had never heard of them. You won't find marketing collateral. You won't find a client list you can vet. They promote their "Trusted Advisor or Partner", but aren't allowed to share names or images. Why the secrecy if it's all legit? They'll tell you the solution is proprietary. They'll tell you the solution is #1 in the industry or the best they've seen. If the solution is so great, why doesn't every hospital know about this company? Why aren't they touted by industry experts and promoted nationally? They'll tell you the satisfied hospital clients don't want a barrage of calls for testimonials. Here's the kicker: They post 'jobs' - 'Help Wanted' ads. The jobs are part-time commissions only to be paid up to a year from the time of a sale. The job description includes quite a list of requirements for getting in the door—or, should I say, behind the secret curtain. The job requires a seasoned, master's-prepared hospital strategist, business development professional, subject matter experts, and a network of hospital C-suite executives. Relationships are built on a foundation of trust and respect. This one’s got me scratching my head. Someone recently asked me: “—- What qualifies someone to be a ‘clinical outreach specialist’? A lot of folks in these roles seem to come from sales-focused backgrounds. Is ‘clinical outreach’ really the right label? If the main job is selling the program as the solution, wouldn’t something like ‘Admissions Representative’ or ‘Program Sales Specialist’ be more honest?
