After 2 years of implementing the community policing project in Lebanon in collaboration with FIIAPP and the #EuropeanUnion in #Lebanon and the @Internal security forces and Adyan Foundation, we have come to conclude this project with this social experiment highlighting the importance of building #trust between the security actors or law enforcement agencies and the citizens, this model of Community Policing is not just about law enforcement—it's about building relationships, nurturing trust, and cultivating a collective commitment to a safer, more inclusive #society.

Privileged to participate in the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre’s ‘Have Your Say’ Day aimed at supporting the staff looking after our young people in detention. Such an important role! Less than 1% of young people (10-17yo) interact with the Youth Justice system, but the rate of reoffending is high (around 90%), meaning a relatively small portion of our young people are committing most offences for the demographic. Over the past 11 years MANAWISE Group & MANA Pasifika have run programs in detention centres, schools, community, sports clubs and with families in order to provide evidence-based and culturally-tailored support to our vulnerable youth across the spectrum of prevention to detention. Just like residential care in child safety, most people would agree that detention centres are not where we want our young children. Prevention trumps detention every day of the week - however while these services exist, there is still a need to provide quality care for those precious young people engaged in these systems. Thanks Skye Leo and team at BYDC for inviting us to support your staff. 🛶✈️🚀 #YouthJustice #ChildSafety #Prevention>Detention Nicola Fa'avale PhD Grace Tava'e Peter Kaituu Andrew Fa'avale

Neighbourhood ☑️ Enforcement ☑️ Teams ☑️ Hampshire & IOW Constabulary have introduced new crime-fighting squads to catch criminals & make your local area safer. Neighbourhood Enforcement Teams proactively target criminals across the Hampshire and Isle of Wight area. Teams are based in #Basingstoke, #Winchester, #Southampton, #Lyndhurst, #Fareham, #Havant and the #IOW. The NET teams have been made possible by your contribution to policing through the police precept paid each year with your council tax. Using data and technology to understand crime hotspots and by proactively targeting criminals to stop them in their tracks, the teams are driving down crime and making communities safer. Donna caught up with the Fareham NET team and went out on a shift to see how they are proactively fighting crime.

Engaging communities in crime reduction can be highly effective. One approach is through community policing, which fosters a collaborative relationship between law enforcement and community members. For example, as someone involved in preventing extremism and crime, you could organise or participate in community meetings to discuss local issues, share information security management practices, and develop joint strategies. This approach not only helps in crime reduction but also strengthens community bonds.
