USA "You have to take the children away."—Donald Trump   Taking Children argues that for four hundred years the United States has taken children for political ends. Black children, Native children, Latinx children, and the children of the poor have all been seized from their kin and caregivers. As Laura Briggs’s sweeping narrative shows, the practice played out on the auction block, in the boarding schools designed to pacify the Native American population, in the foster care system used to put down the Black freedom movement, in the US’s anti-Communist coups in Central America, and in the moral panic about “crack babies.” In chilling detail we see how Central Americans were made into a population that could be stripped of their children and how every US administration beginning with Reagan has put children of immigrants and refugees in detention camps. Yet these tactics of terror have encountered opposition from every generation, and Briggs challenges us to stand and resist in this powerful corrective to American history. https://lnkd.in/dvars--p

We are ready to speak about the often-unseen struggles faced by widows. We are ready to join in this Campaign as we imagine a journey towards justice that begins with acknowledging and addressing the silent violence that deny widows their Basic Rights such as Land and Property Inheritance Rights. In these upcoming 16 days, we stand united, dedicated to dismantling these barriers that unfairly strip widows of their dignity and rightful place in society. Join our mission to break barriers and amplify the voices of widows during these 16 days of change. It's a rallying call to end the shadows of inequality and ensure that widows everywhere can step into the light of their rightful place in society. Tomorrow, on September 30, we are honoring a momentous occasion - Truth and Reconciliation Day. It started in 2013 when Orange Shirt Day was started by Phyllis Webstad to honor survivors of residential schools. Orange Shirt Day on September 30 marks the day when many Indigenous children were taken from their families and into residential schools; now, it is an opportunity to bring awareness and create meaningful discussions around the intergenerational effects of residential schools. The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is our opportunity to reflect, grow, and heal as we acknowledge the past, embrace the present, and shape a brighter future together. #TruthAndReconciliation #EveryChildMatters #IndigenousLivesMatter

It's time to change the narrative of widows and their children by rewriting the story of their lives. It is time to talk about the heavy burden of GBV that widows and their children silently bear. It is time to talk about how this cruel injustice robs them of their Dignity, Peace, Safety and Well-being. It is time to make it known that widows are our Unsung heroes who do not have to endure the torment of violence. It is time to understand that the children of these brave women are very innocent and hopeful and therefore they deserve a world where Fear and Suffering have No place. It is time to understand that , Empowerment is the key to End this Cycle of Violence and replace it with Hope, Peace, Love and Security for these brave women and their children. As the 16 Days of Activism Campaign 2023 is about to begin, our promise is to Stand Up Against the injustices that widows and their children endure. Gender-based violence is real and happens across all societies, classes, and people. It changes lives and the future health and well-being of survivors, families, and communities. Trauma contributes to significant medical conditions and mental illnesses such as PTSD, anxiety, and depression. It's triggering to see these acts of violence, but why does it take a video to get a public outrage reaction? Why aren't women believed? Black women? Why wasn't she protected or helped all those years? The fact that the hotel or his crew didn't call the police. It's time to acknowledge that sexual and physical gender-based violence is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. This has happened to me, like other women, men, and gender-diverse people.
