Don’t overcomplicate it.
A heavy website with fancy animations won’t make it better.
What’s more important - looking flashy or getting results?
A simple, strategic design focused on conversions will always win.
Define your ultimate goal, and design your site to hit that target.

🏠 Exciting progress update on my site development 🌟
I'm thrilled to share a sneak peek of the homepage, still a work in progress but it's coming up nicely. With a clean layout and captivating design elements, it's starting to come together beautifully.
Plus, I haven't added the best part of the site yet—the animations! The animations will breathe life into every interaction, adding an extra layer of engagement and delight for visitors.
Stay tuned for more updates as I refine and enhance the homepage. Can't wait to share the final result with you all!

📺 Just watched this incredible video from Joey Korenman - highly recommend you do so if you haven't had the chance yet.
⚠ Some key takeaways for myself: ⚠
✔ Increase skillset from just After Effects animation. Clients are more and more looking for what Joey calls the "full-stack designer", someone who can handle many different things instead of just one field - 3D, UI/UX, interactive.
🎯 Goal: learn Rive! It's a start. I'd like to, of course, achieve Emanuele Colombo levels of fun character animation, but will have to see if I can get there. Some evidence of my progress coming soon!
✔ Social media presence - if your work isn't online, does it even exist? Consistency is the hard part for me - to stick with it beyond the initial spurts of inspiration.
🎯 Goal: be consistent with posting on social media. 3x per week at the least.
✔ Develop soft skills - according to Google, "personal attributes that enable someone to interact effectively and harmoniously with other people." I definitely lack these!
🎯 Goal: already started this, but getting on follow-up calls with clients, actually reaching out from my side first, and just generally being more helpful, communicative and friendly. This might sound like a no-brainer but is actually a hard one for me 😅
✔ Put some effort into networking - Joey says that apart from the obvious benefits of having friends in the same field of work to talk to, there are also opportunities to share and receive work, all of which I've experienced and would definitely like to make more friendships!
🎯Goal: I'm partaking in an awesome animation collaboration at the moment with Marc Lawrence and bunch of other cool peeps I'm looking forward to getting to know. More of that, and maybe even jumping on a call with someone and chatting?
What are you priorities for 2024? What directions do you see the year taking all of us motion designers and animators in?
