Mood swings could be caused by the air we breathe ❇️ A new study found that exposure to dirty air can cause mood swings and even increase your risk of anxiety and depression. ❇️In the study, researchers developed a novel measure, affective sensitivity to air pollution (ASAP), to assess psychological vulnerability to climate change. They focused on fluctuations in individuals' emotions caused by their daily exposure to air pollution. ❇️They analysed 8,541 daily reports of affect, 97% of which (n=8,250) could be linked to daily air pollution data. ✅ The study highlights the importance of considering individual differences in sensitivity to air pollution when studying its effects on well-being. People with higher ASAP scores experience more fluctuations in their affective states in response to changes in air pollution. #airpollution #mentalhealth #climatechange #airquality #depression #anxiety #health #publichealth
