Our proposed design for a landmark structure in Helsinki reimagines the city's urban landscape through a fusion of traditional Finnish elements and contemporary architectural principles. Inspired by the region's history, geography, and cultural heritage, this innovative design aims to become a symbol of Helsinki's dynamic spirit. Key features include: Endo- and Exoskeleton: A unique structural concept representing the city's layered history, inspired by sleighs and the Aurora Borealis. Sustainable Design: Incorporating eco-friendly features such as solar panels, green spaces, and energy-efficient systems. Central Atrium: A spacious and welcoming space reminiscent of the Guggenheim Museum, fostering a sense of community and connection. Documented in DETAIL 6.2024 Climate and Resources: Het Bosbad Housing in Eindhoven (NL) by GAAGA Circularity, simple reversibility and the desire to create residential space in proximity to the natural environment were the conceptual focus of the housing structure Het Bosbad. About 400 peeled eucalyptus logs provide the design with a striking visual impression. The reuse of these construction components is possible without difficulty. For the design, the Delft-based architecture office Gaaga found inspiration in the Japanese nature therapy method of #ShinrinYoku. Translated literally, the term means “forest bathing”. The property offers ideal preconditions for this purpose. Bordering a large park, it is situated at the northeastern tip of the urban development zone of Bosrijk, west of Eindhoven. According to Gaaga, 85% of building materials can be reused or recycled. Hardwood boards that previously served as embankment were applied as facade siding. The primary structure consists of prefabricated concrete elements with detachable bolt connectors. By breathing new life into these materials, we not only preserve their historical value but also highlight the importance of sustainable practices in modern construction. The pavilion offers more than just a visual experience—it creates a community space where visitors can engage with both the environment and each other. The carefully arranged timber strips allow natural light to filter through, casting intricate patterns of light and shadow, while the open design encourages interaction with the surrounding landscape. This connection between the natural and built environments invites contemplation and strengthens the bond between people and place. As ESG considerations become increasingly central to business strategies, "Echoes Unbound" illustrates how environmentally conscious design can also create aesthetically pleasing and functional spaces. 🌟 Tripolis Park – where history meets innovation 🌟 Amsterdam's Tripolis Park is a masterclass in blending heritage with modernity. MVRDV architects chose not to demolish Aldo van Eyck's monumental complex but to give it a new life. The result? A breathtaking fusion of brutalist architecture with sustainable and functional innovations for the modern office landscape. A highlight of the project is "The Window," a striking 12-story addition that shields the complex from the A10 highway while emphasizing the historical elements of the original design. P U E R T O D E A L I C A N T E Concept proposal for a new congress centre for the city of Alicante consisting of: 15115 m2 - congress centre (auditorium, exhibition, restaurant, parking, circulation and all services) 3925 m2- office building The aim of the proposed development and its architectural features is to promote the rehabilitation of the port area, with the objective of converting previously maritime orientated industrial structures into community driven spaces igniting the connection of Alicante to its inhabitants and guests whilst simultaneously incorporating current architectural advances to ensure long term sustainability. Our proposed concept is a contemporary interpretation of a deconstructed stone fortress that sits as purposefully placed fragmented stone panels in the constructs of the piers. Our primary focus throughout the planning process was to maximize the flow, participation, connection, and community of human interaction with the development.
