New research shows that efforts to provide naloxone kits to counteract opioid overdose in vulnerable communities have been effective in reaching those populations. The study found that 97% of people who received naloxone kits through various opioid overdose prevention programs were identified as high risk of overdosing or witnessing an overdose. But researchers, led by Weill Cornell Medicine's Dr. Czarina Behrends and the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, noted fentanyl overdoses still disproportionally affect some racial and ethnic groups more than others. We are evolving with our care of patients with Alcohol Use Disorder and trying to reduce stigma so more get into care. Consider removing the word alcoholic from your vocabulary and replacing it with Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD). Its not alcohol abuse its alcohol misuse. Instead of alcoholic hepatitis its alcohol-associated hepatitis. See a recent lecture here on management of AUD from the hepatologist's perspective geared for the PCP. 😎 https://lnkd.in/gKC-FAvA #AASLD, #EASL, #primarycare, Scripps Health, Scripps Research, American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), #AUD, #Alcohol

More and more discussions are emerging about the connection between cardiovascular diseases and male and female sexual difficulties, affecting arousal, desire, and orgasm. According to the American Heart Association, men commonly report reduced sexual desire and issues with achieving and maintaining an erection due to cardiovascular disease. Additionally, the disease and its treatment can impact a man's ability to achieve orgasm. On the other hand, women are more likely to face challenges such as decreased sexual desire, orgasm problems, vaginal dryness, and pain during intercourse. #CardiovascularHealth #SexualWellness #HeartDiseaseAwareness #sexualhealth #sexualdysfunction
