In business, you always need a great plan, but must also be prepared to pivot: The Sting (1974 Oscar Winner)
Johnny Hooker (Robert Redford) plays a small-time con on the wrong guy. The mob is after him. He enrolls Henry Gondorff (Paul Newman), a professional at the long con, to pull a scheme on Chicago’s toughest mobster (Doyle Linneman…I mean Lonnegan). Their plan seems flawless. Past-posted races where they know the winners already. With the local police & the mob chasing Hooker and the FBI chasing Gondorff, they make constant adjustments to make sure the con is pulled without the mob even knowing.
The lesson here is to make a great plan and stick to it, but be watching for spots to pivot to take advantage of opportunities you are given.
