🌈 ASPIRE applauds Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN)’s vital LGBTIQA+ Health Needs Assessment. Some key insights: - Access challenges to #inclusive and #affordablehealthcare services. - Widespread loneliness and social isolation within the LGBTIQA+ community. - The need for healthcare provider training in comprehensive, inclusive care approaches. This report underscores a number of opportunities for social prescribing to work with local people and communities to co-create inclusive health solutions for the LGBTIQA+ community. #SocialPrescribing is a model of connecting individuals to non-medical sources of support within the community, mapping resources and linking people to available opportunities. It can also help address some of the challenges raised in the needs assessment by empowering local communities to collaborate, create connections, and foster contributions that enhance quality of life and address some of the barriers to social and emotional wellbeing. The responsibility of caregiving often falls on the shoulders of families, partly due to the shortage of professional caregivers. - 73% of all employees have some form of caregiving responsibility. - Nearly a quarter of individuals (22%) juggle full-time work alongside caregiving duties—an increase from 16% in 2019. - Caregiving responsibilities disproportionately affect women, who represent 56% of working Americans with caregiving duties, compared to 44% of men—a statistic that has risen since 2020. - As caregiving needs continue to increase, the demand for women in the workforce is expected to follow suit.
