We're so excited to introduce Lauren Chan (who needs no introduction) as one of Welcome To Chinatown's 2024 Chinatown Champions! Lauren first reached out in 2020, asking how she could support our Longevity Fund fundraiser. This small seed of connection grew into an exploration and celebration together of AAPI identities. Lauren is a steward of positive change, using her influential platform to advocate for many of the core tenets that make up Welcome to Chinatown — innovation, entrepreneurship and AAPI intersectional identities. Lauren will be honored at Welcome to Chinatown’s 2024 Gala this fall, on September 19th. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/evqpwFb6

If you're a female entrepreneur and are raising capital and also want to go to San Diego...Stella Foundation's Women's Fast Pitch applications close next week. I started working with female founders from the Stella community almost two years ago now (I help with their pitch deck design). I've seen a lot of new and interesting startups gain their footing through this organization. The people here really care and and do a lot to support female founders, wherever they are on their journey. #WomensFastPitch #WFP2024 #AccessToCapital #ElevateEquity #WomenEntrepreneurs #AccessToCapital #WomenEntrepreneurs #Stella #nonprofit #community #femalefounders #entrepreneur #womeninbusiness

Serial Entrepreneur | Founder @ Deployed, a Microsoft Ventures-backed start-up | Expert in B2C, B2B & Enterprise SaaS | Advocate for Women in Tech | Mentor & Fundraising Coach
Over the past week, I’ve received more than 70 applications from under-recognised founders building incredible tech products across all sectors. This is a strong reminder that when investors claim they can’t find these founders, they’re simply not looking in the right places. With networks for female founders improving in recent years, visibility is increasing—but we still have work to do. As a founder who successfully raised $5M for my startup, I know the challenges first-hand. That’s why I’ve developed a research-based playbook designed to help founders close funding with proven strategies. This workshop is for founders, by a founder—and in it, I’ll be sharing the same techniques that I used to navigate investor fit, pitch effectively, and overcome bias. You can sign up for the event here: https://lu.ma/zah5m903. Additionally, I will be selecting two founders for private coaching sessions after reviewing all the applications. I’m excited to help you unlock the funding and recognition your work deserves. Looking forward to seeing you at the session! SCRA: South Carolina Research Authority recently announced that Custom Donations received an Acceleration Grant. This Accelerator cohort 1 company moved to Greenville, SC from Florence, SC because of the resources #StartupGVL had to offer. “I wouldn’t say ideas are cheap, but execution is everything. Having a great idea will get you nowhere if you never act. If you’re excited about this new product or idea, you’re the person with the passion to get it done. Take that passion and do something with it. But also keep in mind that to actually build a company and make that idea come to reality, in addition to passion, you’re also going to need a ton of perseverance and endurance.” Check out what else founder, Mike Smith has to say about this founder journey! https://lnkd.in/e7YPWGxd #founderfeature #founderfriday #veteran
