Today on World Refugee day, and every day, we proudly stand with our partner Talent Beyond Boundaries (TBB) to help change the lives of refugees and displaced individuals with the Pearson Test of English (PTE). By offering free English tests, together we are breaking down barriers, helping over 1600 refugees secure skilled work and build new lives. Meet Mohammad Al Kayal, who fled war-torn Syria at 17, leaving his family behind. For 11 years, he relocated, seeking safety.  Now settled in Australia, PTE and TBB have enabled him to embrace his new life and plan for the future. Today is World Refugee Day. It's a performance 👀 ⏰ Cue last minute requests from NGOs and UN agencies to 'invite a refugee' to speak at their pre-arranged event. 🤳 Cue global north players posting vague, performative sentiments about the 'resilience of refugees'. 🎥 Cue the glossy, virtue-signalling social media reels bookended with NGO/UN logos. 🌟 Cue the tokenistic profiling of orgs led by forcibly displaced people, who operate on shoestring 365 days of the year - often at great personal risk/cost to the teams involved. 🍉 Cue the same orgs who have remained silent about Palestine call for 'peace'. What to do instead as an NGO/UN agency? Take today to reflect on what you will do more (or less) of this year to be meaningfully accountable to people fleeing violence and persecution. Because your PR and comms plan ain't it. 🤷♀️ #worldrefugeeday

🌍 Today is World Humanitarian Day. We pause to honour the incredible efforts of those who dedicate their lives to helping others in need, often in the most challenging of circumstances. This year's theme reminds us of the power of collective action, the importance of standing together and acting for humanity. At Koben, we’re privileged to support humanitarian organisations like Australia for UNHCR, who work tirelessly to bring hope and relief to refugees around the world. Through our partnership, we’ve witnessed the profound impact that intentional digital strategies can have in amplifying these critical messages and connecting people with the resources they need. We’re reminded of the responsibility we all share in using our platforms—digital or otherwise—to shine a light on the stories that matter and to support those making a difference. This day is also about calling for those in power to action on behalf of civilians, including humanitarian workers, in conflict zones.
