Shout out to Shanen Aranmor, MS, CWI/CWE for inviting us to a couples welding workshop last night at Weld Like A Girl™️ . Shanen is my welder son's benefactor, the one who mentored and gave him the scholarship to Tulsa Welding School-Tulsa Campus . It was a mother-and-son workshop I took him to back in middle school that introduced him to welding. I hadn't done a workshop since...probably 7 years ago. Shanen also welded the arch Greg Wilkinson and I got married under. She and her husband John, retired LEO, have both been a huge force in our lives, particularly my son's obviously, and for so many others in our community including at-risk youth and military children. We are so greatful for their friendship. Greg and I made a VERY simple candle box with a Maltese cross, go figure...the other 2 couples? wow...they created some art! I was texting my son pictures during class and getting feedback about slowing down and turning up the voltage, lol. Last night reminded me how meticulous a job welding is, they make it look so easy.
