A Sobering Reality: Supporting Families in Our Communities and World. Recently, I had the privilege of following up the end-of-year and Christmas program for widows in my small community, Ru-Ndele, under the auspices of a local foundation. What I discovered left me deeply moved and troubled—a staggering and verified count of nearly 1,000 widows in a community that many would consider small. This number compelled me to reflect on the underlying causes and the profound challenges faced by families when a man—often the breadwinner—passes away. My further research uncovered two painful truths: 1. The African Man’s Struggle The responsibility to provide, protect, defend, and elevate his family is immense for the average African man. This task is further compounded by economic instability, societal expectations, and the unrelenting pressure to meet standards set by political elites who often flaunt their wealth. This burden takes a significant toll, reducing the life expectancy of the average African man by at least 10 years. Those years, which could have been spent creating cherished memories, imparting wisdom, and sharing laughter with their children, are lost to stress and overexertion. 2. The Widow’s Fight for Survival When a man passes away, the challenges for his wife are magnified. Many women, suddenly thrust into widowhood, are unprepared for the void left behind. Without the necessary skills, empowerment, or resources, they are left to navigate life’s complexities alone. This struggle can persist for years, leading to confusion, despair, and an uphill battle to provide for their families. This harsh reality calls for action. Let us remember that every little effort counts. Light up your neighborhood, your community, and the world in whatever ways you can. The struggle within many families is real, but it becomes infinitely harder when the man is no longer there. Humanity Nest , we take this act more serious than you can imagine, we consider it a mission and a vision. The App and Community Mini Donation/ Food Pantry Centers (CMDFPC) prevents disaster during aid distribution. Together, we can build a society where no family, widow or child is left in the shadows. #HumanityNest #CommunityCare #SDGGoals

🥀Children have a remarkable capacity to help others, and their actions play a significant role in promoting kindness and compassion within society. Through acts of generosity, empathy, and friendship, children contribute to building a more compassionate world. Whether it's sharing toys with a classmate, comforting a friend who's sad, or participating in community service projects, these actions not only demonstrate their innate sense of humanity but also inspire those around them to follow suit. By engaging in these small yet meaningful gestures, children not only help those in need but also cultivate values that will shape their character and interactions as they grow. 🥀The impact of children's actions extends beyond immediate assistance, as their acts of kindness can ripple through communities and create a positive chain reaction. When children see others helping, they're more likely to be motivated to do the same, fostering a culture of caring and empathy. Additionally, their involvement in charitable activities helps them develop a sense of responsibility, awareness of societal issues, and a deeper understanding of the diverse needs of people around them. As they grow into adults, these experiences can lead to a lifelong commitment to making a difference and contributing to the betterment of humanity. In essence, children's efforts to help others not only directly benefit those they assist but also contribute to shaping a more compassionate and interconnected world for everyone. #HumanityMatters #SpreadKindness #BeTheChange #CompassionInAction #EmpathyMatters #TogetherForGood #MakeADifference #LoveAndServe #CaringCommunities #InspireHumanity #helpinghands #helpingothers

Faith. Family. Service. Like many of you, I am preparing to head into Christmas celebrations with my little family of five (the count includes our two dogs who are anxiously eyeing their Christmas stockings). The first is particularly meaningful. Our son and his schoolmates put together an incredible party for women and their children who have found a safe haven from homelessness – generally resulting from trauma (you can fill in the blank). This local organization provides shelter in a home environment, job training, and trauma counseling. The party includes photos with Santa, presents to open on Christmas Day and making as much noise as possible. That joyful noise perfectly captured a year that reinforced my faith in both the family I was born into and the ones I made for myself – because they never fail to rise to the call to serve those in need around them. They work tirelessly for sustainable solutions to enact permanent change in the lives of the most vulnerable. For those who aren’t sure where to start, I hope these incredible people at these groups will inspire you as they have inspired me: 1. GallopNYC uses therapeutic horsemanship to help riders in NYC with disabilities to walk, talk and learn, inspiring them to live their lives as fully, independently and productively as possible. Donate/Volunteer! 2. Several organizations came together to introduce a bill to correct the differing tax treatment of sexual assault survivors based on the visibility of their injuries. Find your rep and support: https://lnkd.in/dpfWWCmK 3. BLACK AND MISSING FOUNDATION (BAMFI) brings awareness to missing persons of color, provide vital resources and tools to missing person’s families and friends, and educates the minority community on personal safety. 4. All for Lunch, Inc. relies 100% on donations towards eliminating school lunch debt and making sure every child can eat at school regardless of their financial circumstance. #service #purpose #findyourpurpose

💡🏡You can give a child the gift of family today! There are over 150M children worldwide who do not have a family to call their own and statistically there are many children in your area who do not have a permanent, loving family. As a community of donors, we partner with Christian adoptive families who are welcoming children into their hearts and families through adoption. With the cost of adoption often ranging over $50,000, it's simply not possible for many families to complete the process. Will you help a child come into a loving home by giving a gift today? https://lnkd.in/eAMXMubC #christianadoption #orphansupport #supportingadoptiontogether

On National Build Day, Alabama Professional Services and Sleep in Heavenly Peace joined forces to tackle a daunting issue: child bedlessness. This initiative aimed to provide hand-made beds to children who, without this support, would have to sleep on floors or couches, contributing to severe health and emotional challenges. Reflecting on my own experiences, I remember volunteering for community projects similar to this where we came together, rolled up our sleeves, and made a tangible impact. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about working collectively to uplift those in need—it's a reminder of the positive change we can create in our communities. Did you know that sleep deprivation can lead to hyperactivity, anxiety, and depression in children? The bedlessness crisis is real, and initiatives like these are crucial for fostering healthier futures for our youth. What can you do to contribute to this cause? Consider volunteering your time or donating to organizations that address these pressing issues. Together, we can bring hope and comfort to the lives of children. #ChildWelfare #CommunitySupport #Volunteer #SleepInHeavenlyPeace #AlabamaProfessionalServices #NationalBuildDay

Our hearts are with the people of Los Angeles and surrounding areas as they face devastating fires. For those in the Kesher Shalom community and beyond, now is the time to check in with friends, family, and colleagues in the affected region. A simple message of care can make a world of difference. How to Support Someone in Active Trauma: 1️⃣ Reach Out – A text or call can be a lifeline. 2️⃣ Validate Their Feelings – Remind them it’s okay to feel overwhelmed. 3️⃣ Listen Without Judgment – Let them share without trying to fix. 4️⃣ Offer Practical Help – Small gestures, like checking in or sharing resources, matter. 5️⃣ Hold Space for Emotions – Allow feelings to exist without needing to resolve them. If you're in the affected areas, you're not alone—lean on others, and we're here for you. For those outside the crisis zone, let’s stand together through donations, resources, or simply showing care. We can make a difference. 🕊️ Let’s bring light into the darkness. If you’re looking for ways to help or need support yourself, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team. #KesherShalom #SupportInCrisis #LosAngelesFires #CommunityCare

When I was twelve years old at Boy Scout Summer Camp I took the Wilderness Survival merit badge. The “highlight” of the week was for us to sleep out for a night in the wilderness (Sierra Nevada mountains) with no fire, no sleeping bag, no nothing… Just us and nature. Me and a buddy planned and prepped and built a wonderful “bed” of pine needles (because it wasn’t an actual emergency we didn’t cut down any trees or live branches). We thought we had a pretty sweet setup. What I remember from that night is 1) I don’t think I slept much at all, 2) My “bed” was worthless for any measure of comfort, 3) I was freezing cold all night. I swore I would never do that again. Since that time I have been the “prepared” guy. When I used to backpack, I had the nicest gear and people would laugh at my five pound air mattress – but I slept in comfort. When I car camp – I have 2 air mattresses, a cot and a wonderful pillow. I know how to travel in comfort. But not in two nights. This Thursday night – I give up comfort for one night. So for one night I will sleep out – in the cold and maybe wet. Despite headlines like “Month’s worth of rain could hit parts of the Bay Area this week,” I will sleep out. Despite the fact that my fellow Cisco co-workers will hate that I snore (sorry folks), I will sleep out. And so why Sleep Out? Well it is not to pretend to be homeless but to develop some empathy. Empathy for those that don’t have a roof over their head, yet still try to make it in the everyday world. Specifically for young adults, who often through no fault of their own, don’t have a place to call home. Empathy for something I’ve never had to face or even the fear of facing because of the blessings and privileges that I have had in my life. That is why I will sleep out. So why do I share this? Well candidly, I want to pry away some of your hard earned dollars and have you donate to this worthy cause – to help end homelessness for those young adults. So will you donate? And I will sleep out. https://lnkd.in/gQgSH9VX #sleepout Cisco

DID YOU KNOW that a single number can predict how many obstacles such as criminal justice, foster care, homelessness, and even hunger a child will face? This number is their zip code. Without much thought, you can identify neighborhoods in Eastern Idaho that face a lot more challenges than others, and most are filled with young children. Regardless of where they live, every child has hopes, dreams, unique talents, and gifts to offer the world. Sadly, many are deprived of the support, stability, and resources necessary for them to fully blossom. The single most important factor a child needs to overcome tremendously difficult circumstances is the long-term, consistent, unconditional support of a caring adult. Since we began working with youth in Eastern Idaho in the spring of 2024, your support has enabled professional mentors Chelsae and Eduardo to spend hours with each week supporting them and their families. Our 12+ year commitment to walking alongside these incredible children has just begun. Your ongoing support provides these amazing children with the key resource they need -- a professional mentor who works with them to co-create a sense of safety and security. The nurturing relationship they develop enables the child’s brain to deactivate subconscious patterns of survival-based fight or flight reactions and to activate pathways of peace and calm that set the stage for optimal learning and growth. You bring comfort to parents who love and worry about their children but who are often too consumed by fighting their own barriers to be fully present for them. Your ongoing donations ensure that these deserving youth continue to benefit from this unique healing and strengthening relationship. You will empower them as they strive for the peaceful and prosperous lives they deserve, regardless of where they happened to be born. We encourage you to consider sustaining our mission by becoming a Give Every Month donor. Your ongoing gift, no matter the amount, makes an immense difference. https://bit.ly/3ZNBeqR #FriendsoftheChildren #OneChildOneFriend #FriendsEasternIdaho #MentoringMatters #YouthMentor #EmpowerYouth #GiveEveryMonth #GEMDonor
